I would love to see the Mk1 SLE / SLEP sleepers modelledWell we at JT should have a couple of new things in the not too distant future. We are currently making some new Mk1's and that is the main reason for the Manor not having been released yet.

Re: Lack of new stock
Mike, is there any chance of producing Decauville panel-sections of track to go with this model so that it would be possible to lay track that was unballasted on rough-ish ground? The image you posted looks great for a heritage line but is quite unlike most track I've seen in WW1 photos. There are some here that show just how badly-laid tracks could be.

Re: Lack of new stock
Hi Keith,
there is already Decauville pattern (Jubilee) track available in maxtedrw's 2'3" pack.
These wagons are for 2' - but the steamroller wheels mean they don't look silly on 2'3" - by design in this case. This track pack is Kevin Martin's pack for RS - but it will be replaced by new build track for the WOLT project. Kev's track is good, but the ballast shoulder is too high, and there are some odd shadow effects when you use it in later versions of the game.

Also, the quality of the trackwork tended to degrade the closer you got to the front line, for some mystifying reason.
Hope that helps!
Mike

Re: Lack of new stock
Thanks, Mike. I wouldn't have entertained that track, had I gone looking for it, because I know that the majority of Decauville-type railways in WW1 were 600mm/2ft gauge. In the unlikely expectation that your last point isn't ironic, track near to the front lines was more likely to be laid and moved at short notice, let alone being more vulnerable to shelling by heavy guns and howitzers. Lines serving the major dumps between the Base Areas or railheads and front lines would have been considered permanent and built to a good standard.

Yes, I was employing irony...
German railways (feldbahnen) tended to be much better engineered, in part because they were a lot more static.

Re: Lack of new stock
I'll look forward to seeing this, Mike. WW1 lines have an attraction all their own - it doesn't matter how badly you build anything, it's probably true to life somewhere!
