I love it anyway Matt you have done it justice once again! Just a question but when I open the regulator can I hear a noise like the blower been opened?

Probably the snifter valve, sounds like a whoosh-fart sound and closes when you open the regulator normally. If not that then the brakes which need about 9-10% running for the hissing to dissapear there.kirkheath wrote:I love it anyway Matt you have done it justice once again! Yes Kirk. That sound is some kind of loop accidently applied to the regulator. I'll look into it.

Brilliant sounds - this loco has bags of character. On the third scenario to keep to time I really had to open her up between stops - marvellous!!

Re: Digital Traction BR Standard 2MT
So I finally got a chance to actually run this..
That running sound I commented on.. I really have to wonder why RSC decided of all running sounds to record to pitch this engine... It was that one.. *smh* Complete head scratcher.. As noted that sound only lasts for a 9mph window or so before the main highspeed running sound takes over.. And my god.. THAT was the best high speed running audio I've ever heard in this game.. Blasting down the line at 60mph is a delight. Again.. I have no idea why RSC decided to highlight the running sound they did.. Makes no sense.
Since I manually fire kettles how they burn is always a neat little puzzle amongst itself. Every kettle burns different.. This is no exception. At first I thought she over generated steam; and it does at regular slow moves.. You really need to not add coal, open the door and let her burn that fire mass down.. It's not until you hit the 50mph mark does a fire mass over 700lbs really start becoming a necessity.. I was cruising along nice and comfortably at 60mph and a fire mass just over 700lbs or so. One striking characteristic is how little water she drinks for the power and speed she is capable of. There are a few kettles that nearly drink as much as they use when wide open mainline running. Not so much here.. You can fill her up rather fast and get a decent run out of her before the boiler needs a refill.
Top quality stuff..

Re: Digital Traction BR Standard 2MT
Bought and happy (although the valve gear should've been spotted!) but a request please to get the brake application sorted - confirmed it operates in the "wrong" sense. Pointed out to DT in other releases and they've corrected it, but shame it keeps on being reintroduced with each new release.kevpotts wrote:Just a note (intending to buy tonight) but from the video a few posts ago, the vacuum brake handle seems to be reversed again ie release should be away from the driver. This seems to be a common fault with a lot of releases, although corrected by DT on the 4MT when pointed out to them.

Very nice locomotive to drive, looks fantastic too. Certainly bodes well for the upcoming Standard 4s if they're of a similar quality.
Just one point though, are we missing some quick drive consists? The manual makes reference to a number of different consists, but I only have four, all of them light engine.

Brilliant model. The only small disappointment is being unable to set lamps on the tender (unless I've missed something).

You can but it will only be a single red lamp.Drogba11CFC wrote:Brilliant model. The only small disappointment is being unable to set lamps on the tender (unless I've missed something).
Pressing H once will toggle front lamps on
Pressing H again will toggle tail lamp on and front lights off
Pressing H again will toggle all lamps off
Re: Digital Traction BR Standard 2MT
Optical a wounderful model and the 2MT sounds very good in my ears (I am not a steam sound expert). What I do not like is that the gauges do not show the correct numbers and that the water glasses do not work. I use the gauges and the water glasses if I drive a steam engine. I hate to drive with the HUD.
I think this is not so important but the clean early crest tender is not inside the pack.

Re: Digital Traction BR Standard 2MT
As has been picked up before, the model is very nice to look at overall, but the dome really does appear to taper inwards too much, the front fallplate is at too shallow an angle, and there doesn't seem to be any flaps between the cab and the tender...

Re: Digital Traction BR Standard 2MT
A surprising omission, given the option on the loco, is that white lamps don't appear on the tender when running in reverse, not even a default arrangement. When you press H twice the red lamp disappears and nothing replaces it. This class was fitted with a tender cab in the anticipation of running tender-first quite a lot of the time so I think that's something else that needs addressing.

Why is the damper operating handwheels right in front of the fire hole.

Re: Digital Traction BR Standard 2MT
This is a beautiful looking loco and perfect for WLOS.
Only fly in my ointment is that it's killing my frame rates. Now I know that I'm flogging my PC to get RW working with TSX enabled, and even then I have to make do with shadows off, but no other steam loco is doing this to my frame rates.
Any suggestions short of buying new hardware would be appreciatted.
Cheers
