How can it be a standalone product - surely you need TS2013 to play it...

No, it clearly states it is a standalone product and does not require TS2013 to run it.MallardFan wrote:How can it be a standalone product - surely you need TS2013 to play it...

Re: Trains versus Zombies 2
If you have TS2013, it installs in exactly the same manner as any other item of DLC. If you do not, then you don't need to buy TS2013 as well. I would guess that in that case it is "locked down" in a similar fashion to the NRM Christmas gift route from a couple of years ago

Re: Trains versus Zombies 2
But wasn't last years Trains V Zombies only £4.99 without the 50% off, so who they trying to rip off?

Presumably because that wasn't a standalone product.davejc64 wrote:But wasn't last years Trains V Zombies only £4.99 without the 50% off, so who they trying to rip off?
I agree though, too expensive for owners of TS...

It was, installed as a standalone route (clone of then-default Oxford - Paddington)RichyV wrote:Presumably because that wasn't a standalone product.davejc64 wrote:But wasn't last years Trains V Zombies only £4.99 without the 50% off, so who they trying to rip off?

Re: Trains versus Zombies 2
I got last years Trains V Zombies in a half price sale for about £2.49 or somthing like that, and after playing, felt it wasn't even worth that, once you have completed the scenarios, that's it, it's very much useless and I suspect this version will be the same, I suspect it's not really aimed at those who already have TS2013, it's more a novelty item, to attract the attention of the curious, who might be tempted to buy TS2013 after playing it.

Re: Trains versus Zombies 2
Trains vs Zombies (1) is currently £2.99 (full price) in the store - I bought it last year and had enough enjoyment out of it to justify that sort of price. The new one though seems to have pretty much equivalent content (i.e. 4 scenarios - not even career mode this time as far as I can tell), so I don't really see the justification for a full price of £9.99 (or even the current £4.99) this time round.
As has been said, I have to assume it is aimed at people who don't already have TS2013 - for those that do it's pretty bad value, especially when you make the obvious comparison to last year's offering.

TVZ2 has 5 Scenarios, 1 relay scenario and Quick drive function. As mentioned before it is a standalone product if you do not have TS2013 already.nigeltouatievans wrote:Trains vs Zombies (1) is currently £2.99 (full price) in the store - I bought it last year and had enough enjoyment out of it to justify that sort of price. £4.99 isn't a bad price as similar to many scenario packs that are sold. Also the way i go for with cheap DLC is how many drinks can i buy for that. As i just recently got the Killing Floor DLC which is dirt cheap.
The pack is fun and do love the thunderstorm effects what i take it are from Sherman Hill. If got a hour or so spare i do recommend it as it is a bit of fun and not suppose to be taken seriously.

Yeah I saw that, Still seems a bit strange to me, you can play a RailWorks DLC without having Railworksmalkymackay wrote:No, it clearly states it is a standalone product and does not require TS2013 to run it.MallardFan wrote:How can it be a standalone product - surely you need TS2013 to play it...

Re: Trains versus Zombies 2
This is something that the unbundling of routes from the 'base' TS2013 program allows. I assume that TVZ2 is effectively a package consisting of the TS2013 base game (which by itself contains no routes or stock) + the TVZ2 DLC.MallardFan wrote:Yeah I saw that, Still seems a bit strange to me, you can play a RailWorks DLC without having Railworksmalkymackay wrote:No, it clearly states it is a standalone product and does not require TS2013 to run it.MallardFan wrote:How can it be a standalone product - surely you need TS2013 to play it...

Re: Trains versus Zombies 2
Well, for those who haven't got TS2013 I suppose this is a bit of a marketing blitz by RSC for this time of year, a realistic Northeast Corridor railroad line complete with zombie characters, an AEM-7 electric locomotive with passenger cars and 5 scenarios, gotta say that £4.99 seems a fair price to the unitiated and RSC wil be hoping that it proves a success, so, that folks will go out and buy the complete game afterwards, which was the same strategy last year.

Re: Trains versus Zombies 2
Maybe they should consider other themed DLC, Christmas, New Year, or Easter, I'm sure they would prove popular.
