Grey sky fix.
Hey all,
I'm still seeing quite a few screenshots with grey sky when it should be blue ie Sunny or Cloudy conditions. For me it was only affecting RSC routes since 2013 update. Routes like woodhead were affected while WCML-N was fine. For me running nVidia it was simply a case of creating a profile in the nVidia control panel, nothing more. This has worked for others as discused in another thread but obviously people are not seeing it as grey skies are still out there. I hope it helps somone and if it does post a comment, it will help more people see it before its lost in the depths of the forum.

Re: Grey sky fix.
That's not a bug, that's the "new" sky color setting... on WCML the old remains, on routes that use default sky setting this new grey sky appear.
Re: Grey sky fix.
Yet people posting screens under 2013 have nice blue skies, mine was grey even on a sunny day. I created a profile as suggested and it worked. I had been talking with RSC support and they suggested the same thing, to make sure it was application controlled. Something that was getting blocked without a profile i guess.

I know grey sky appears under clear conditions during autumn and winter seasons. If there is a way to "fix" this, can you advise how? What do I change in the app profile?

Yes. Although i have not re-applied anything since the update. Only files not touched by the update would remain. Is this the root of the problem ? Thinking about it, a 3rd party file would make sense given how it affects some but not all people.firetrap1 wrote:Do you own the AP lighting enhancement pack by chance???

Re: Grey sky fix.
Hello.
On some routes the skies are grayish because they are updated in TS2012 with new textures. The routes that still have not upgraded, the skies are more bluer.
Also, the routes London-Brighton, Sherman Hill and Munich-Augsburg have other skies with new textures more bluer.
That's the only reason.

Whats with you people who keep saying there is no problem. I've fixed my problem where blue skies were not showing, i now have lovely blue sky. Even if i changed the .bin file to a vivid red sky, it would still be grey before the fix, completely monotone. So if you don't have the problem i'm happy for you. RSC posted a fix to me and it worked. I can now change the colours of my sky at will. This fix will hopefully worked for those having the same issue.Juanillo99 wrote:Hello.

Re: Grey sky fix.
I think the previous poster was asking where we might get this fix that RSC sent to you.
Re: Grey sky fix.
I think the idea was to create a special nvidia profile for the game. The question is how to fix it for us who run on an amd card... I do have a special profile in ccc with all that can be set to app-controlled and I still get grey sky...
Re: Grey sky fix.
Aye creating a profile in the nVidia control panel under 3D settings/manage 3D settings. Click Add and use your railworks.exe
Not a clue with AMD i'm afraid jstange. Most likely a similar problem causing it but how to get around it ? Have you sent RSC support a mail ?

I wondered you if you could explain with details the fix.
Thanks.
Re: Grey sky fix.
Yes, I did, waiting for a reply... However I'd still like to know what are the settings you have under that app profile... I have the same issue on my laptop where I have nvidia and even with an existing profile for railworks.exe and all that is possible is set to app-controlled, there is no change...Stone75 wrote:Aye creating a profile in the nVidia control panel under 3D settings/manage 3D settings.
