Ah my apologises Mike, have read through it and have probably overstepped it slightly, wasn't really intending to, was more the lines of asking a few questions and showing pics of where I was stumped on it since normally other posters have a idea of my numpty mistakes I'm doing and can point out faster than reading text. I'll hold back on any more pics untill I've figured more stuff out and dropped a mail though to be quite honest I'm unlikely to release for upload since that side is abit beyond me, I've got it displayed in the editor with the right name, but that is about as far as it goes for me in that regards
Thanks briyeo, I can probably just work with those jpegs and scale them down, for my personal use it will probably do the trick without to much issue, also thanks for the information about the emblems to, its abit hard to find photographs which show both sides of the loco with the emblems on, so that information is useful to know.
What are you apologising for for? Nothing to apologise for, I was just pointing it out if you or if someone else had plans for a release. I have no issues with what you were doing, feel free to continue.
Cheers,
Mike
Ah, okies i might have misunderstood your last post slightly

.
Well since I've the ok to post a few more screenies, I'll pop a few up at end of this post. Anyway, in my last post I had mentioned about issues of everything coming out like someone had run a floor buffer over it, turns out it was the process of finalising the texture file prior to saving with Gimp. Simply put, with thanks from Acorn for his link to the other thread I was able to get the transparent texture file to show the black background and also bring up the coloured image correctly, however once I finished up what I basically had not done is untick disable layer mask which returned the image to the transparent look when you first open the .dds file in gimp and had not merged the layers again. So after abit of fiddling and doing the process correctly the appropriate texture files worked and we got the following results:
Overall I know its not a perfect result nore is it 100% accurate, the emblem probably could do with swapping out to the late era and the black in areas around teh cabs and under the boiler is alittle to dark and slightly obscures detail 68013 probably didn't look like that at any point either and the numbering on the cab side, I suppose its abit of artistic freedom

But on the other hand, as a excise of learning and fiddling with the how-tos of doing reskins for railworks I think its a success and I've not encountered any SBHHs from the process so I think that is fairly good. I think I might go back and remove the cab side numbering under the builder plate, but we'll see.
I will state clearly that I don't plan to release this reskin, as I'm not 100% happy with it, know it isn't accurate and I'm not confident in repackaging or finishing off the appropriate editting of other files which are needed to have it display correctly in the scenario loco windows (it still shows as olive green WD for example), so sorry to say but people will have to wait either for the woodhead version to come or another reskinner.
As a closing point, while it seems abit complex to do a reskin I've been able to achieve the result above probably within the span of maybe 5-6hours of off and on work on it and I've had to start from the olive green textures again a few times in that span of time, I think in hindsight the J94 texture files are probably quite easy to reskin compared to what people have encountered in the past, eventually the paint kit for the J94 should make the process even easier, so what I've done with it all and how I did it probably won't be needed or be alot easier to do. Equally there is probably alot I could do with learning in Gimp and graphics editting in general, since A. I've forgotten alot since 2006-2008 and B. programs and techniques have evolved alot since then.
A good and fun experience either way and I would encourage anyone else if you have interest in trying then give it a go and see how things turn out, you only really need Gimp as a graphics tool and the .dds plugin which you can find by goolging and rw-tools with its tutorial on the website to setup, start and eventually finish and create a end result and ofcourse if you know your way around a Gimp or the likes then its even easier and probably alot quicker to.
