Re: Great Central Railway Version 2 - Release Thread
Mike and I are still beavering away down here while the rest of you are sleeping.
I have pretty well convinced myself that the Kuju P/P is the remaining problem.
What I have done for GCRv2 and the freeware Settle Carlisle (I could run 3 out of 17 scenarios for this route) is to first run them through the RW_Tools routine to get the correct P/Ps selected and then this:
- Moved my main Kuju folder (14.4 Gb) aside (note – only the Kuju folder).
- Move in the Kuju folder from my DLC-only installation (4.33 Gb)
- Run the route through the RW_Tools route check to determine the missing shapes.
- Copy in the missing shapes from the large Kuju folder at the “third level down” e.g. Kuju/Railsimulator/Scenery/procedural.
- Run RW_Tools again to make sure all shapes are now present and then check the textures and sounds.
- If any textures or sounds are missing, copy them in from the main Kuju folder, again at the third level down.
- Run the “List Stock for all scenarios” routine in RW_Tools and copy from the large Kuju folder any identified as missing – at the individual folder level – i.e. individual Black 5 folders and not the whole Black 5 folder containing the individual locos (and many reskins).
- Check the scenarios to see if any include scenery items, and if there are make sure that the scenery items are in the active Kuju folder.
Once I’d done that my new Kuju folder increased to a mere 4.66 Gb and all of the scenarios would run.

A very familiar procedure! I have a number of either separate kuju or asset folders to get routes to run. Plus a spreadsheet to control it all.BobLatimer wrote:Mike and I are still beavering away down here while the rest of you are sleeping.![]()

Re: Great Central Railway Version 2 - Release Thread
Hi chrisreb.
I had seen your posts about multiple Asset folders in earlier threads and had made a mental note. I was hoping that, along with all of the complications of keeping track of things, wouldn't be necessary and that selecting only the necessary P/Ps would solve the problem, as it did for IOWNETWORKv6. But now I know better.
There's still a question in my mind that if I reduce my Kuju folder to DLC-only plus everything that is necessary for the routes and scenarios that I have installed (and put the unused stuff into "storage"), will everything run without the need for multiple asset (or multiple Kuju) folders. That would obviously save the need to keep track of everything on a spreadsheet.
It's going to take a while to check that one out.
Regards,
Bob.

Re: Great Central Railway Version 2 - Release Thread
Best of luck Bob. I just decided separate Asset sets was simpler - just renaming folders without moving stuff about. A real pain but just part of the cost of having so many routes. It would have been nice if RS.com had come clean about this over the years seeing all the isues people had. Telling us to clear cache etc when this was never going to help. They obviously realise the issue hence separate folders for all the new stuff. Wonder if there is any way of increasing the game's ability to load more provider files.BobLatimer wrote:Hi chrisreb.

Re: Great Central Railway Version 2 - Release Thread
I've had a look at the manual and it seems I'll need the RSC Hall and V2 packs, neither of which is currently available. I do have the S&C Specials, Falmouth Branch and the Robinson O4 pack which will supply versions of both classes but I'm guessing that these won't do. Would someone confirm that, please? Is there any chance of a work-round, beyond substituting the locos I do have for those I don't via RW Tools?
