Mike,

I managed to get into the editor the other day (after changing the P/Ps) by editing the two scenarios to change the weather (after I inadvertantly unselected the WCMLNorth).

I've just tried now and I can also get on through the Route Editor.

Could it be the P/Ps that weren't selected but were needed for the shapes that are stopping you?

Bob.

Hi Mike

After I got the route and the scenarios to work (see above), I can also get into the World Editor, both from the main menu or from within the scenario.

Can others get into the World Editor with this route? This one has me puzzled.

I managed to get into scenario editor a couple of times after deleteing a few entries from the route properties xml for example scrubbing all the loco and stock refereances in there seemed to help but after a while it started to SBHH again...

Same as you Mike I can run an existing scenario but the minute I go to edit it I get SBHH but i am getting this with most 3rd party routes all of mine included!, I can also enter to make a scenario but if I stop and try to edit i get chucked out and then the scenario becomes unplayable, and uneditable until i use RW tools to delete it and all other scenarios .....very odd :-?

Antony.

Have you modified the Provider/Product list? When Mike modified his, he could get into the editor.

I have been testing a new version of RW_Tools with Bob and this seems to have fixed things. It checks all of the assets used by the routes AND the weather listed in the RouteProperties.xml file and replaces the list of Providers/Products in the RouteProperties.xml (which in this case included a lot of rolling stock which was not actually used but NOT the weather - hence all the problems with black screens and crashes).

Just got to test a couple of things, but should be able to post new version later today.

It looks like TS2013 is a lot fussier and checks every Provider/Product setting in the RouteProperties.xml for each route, and if anything is not available in your installation (even if not used in the route), it crashes in the World Editor, and in some instances in the Scenarios as well.

Mike and I (mostly Mike) are currently trying to figure out what's going on with scenarios. With GCR2 we've now got the scenarios running after sorting the route P/P issue, but editing them is proving difficult. It's possible there is a P/P issue in the scenario files also so we're trying to figure that one out.

UPDATE

With GCR2 it looks like Mike's fix gets the the total P/Ps read down low enough to load and edit the route and load and edit the free-roam scenario (which gets all of its stock from the Kuju folder), but not low enough to edit the standard scenario with its additional P/Ps for the stock (even though it will run). Our current theory is that it's due to a "bloated" Kuju folder (mine is 14.4 Gb). (Sound familiar chrisreb?) I stripped some not-needed-for-this-route content out of mine and everything GCR2 ran and edited okay. Mike's having a think about a solution for that.

Hi Bob.

I have come accross this before with TPR (currently working hard to reduce the number of PP's) and have helped other route builders with the same issue. There is definitely a upper limit to the number of assets that can be loaded into memory. This does not even have to be assets used in route just the number of assets in all the enabled PP's).

On one of the TPR route detailers installations I had it so that deleting one BIN file from the KUJU folder allowed the route to load, adding it back in and SBHH (believe me that took many hours of testing to work out).

The only solution (if this is the same problem) is to reduce the number of assets by either reducing the number of enabled PP's or reducing the number of assets installed in the enabled PP's.

With TPR I am trying to tackle this by cloning as many assets as I can into my own "Nobkins\TransPennine" folder (with permission from the asset creators and of course they will receive full credit etc). I believe this is helping and I have written a little tool to bulk swap assets from their original location to a new location.

The obvious downside is that people are likely to end up with multiple copies of the same asset (due to the cloning) but I can not see any other solution. In fact RSC do this (but probably not for the same reasons) with all their routes having assets in a unique PP folder.

Hope some of that info helps and feel free to PM me (Mike or Bob) with questions (or we can SKYPE chat if that is quicker).

Hi Jim,

I think RSC are doing this for exactly this reason. I think they have realised that there are limits to the number of Providers/Products you can have with a route and this is then multiplied by the number of .bin files in each of the P/P folders and kills the game.

Memory also seems to be a factor, I have 12 gigs here and Bob has 8 gigs on his machine. I was able to run some items without a SBHH which killed Bob's attempts. There also seem to be memory leak problems, i.e. we can both run GCR2 scenarios or from the World Editor, but if you switch back and forward between them, then SBHH eventually happens.

Mike, I've no idea if this is related, or of use, but I can invoke a SBHH at will by clearing the cache and on the restart going directly into either editor mode on any route (or at least on all the half a dozen or so I've tried). Possibly the initial loading and building of the games cache hogging resources?
This is with 8GB of RAM.

Admittedly this also happened in TS2012.

I unfortunately can't run the Introductionary Scenario, get the dreaded SBHH. I did not have the DT Teaks, so swapped them for the JT ones that come with the A4, but still get SBHH and checking with RWTools indicates I have all the stock the Scenario requires. :-?
Anyone remember me writing this back on Page 1? Well I'm pleased to report that I can now run the Introductionary Scenario. After all this time, trying everything to get this to 'run', including all the helpful suggestions made in this Thread, especially the useful tips posted by Mike Simpson and Bob Latimer, but nothing would work for me. So last night I decided to try 'uninstalling' the GCR Route Version 2 again, and re-load it, but this time I tried installing the "Route" .rwp package files 'manually' instead of using the RSC Package Manager. It worked a treat, swapped the DT Teaks for the JT ones (using RWTools) and the Introductionary Scenario ran first time of trying. :onfire: Lovely Scenario Matt, really enjoyed it and love the Black 5 sounds, superb.

Unfortunately I still cannot use the "Scenario Editor" function at all with this Route, SBHH everytime I try.

I have 'Posted' this just in case someone else had similar problems to me and would like to give it a try, begs the thought, could there perhaps be something wrong with RSC Package Manager after the TS2013 upgrade? :-?

So are bloated Kuju files or indeed any boated files, bad news in TS2013?
Where does that leave us with UKTS Freeware packs I wonder?
