Advice about North East Corridor
I am thinking about buying the NEC route from steam. When TS2013 came out, I was a free upgrade customer and didn't buy the upgrade for the extra content because I didn't want it at the time. So rather than buy the NEC for £24.99, could I buy TS2013 for £19.99 and it wouldn't mess up my current installation?
I also want to know if the NEC addon is worth it? Is it buggy? does it run well without crashing?
Thanks.
Callum.

It's fine for performance since TS13, and you'll get Sherman Hill among other routes as well.

Did IoW get upgraded to 2012/2013 standards too?

Thanks for the info.
It's a shame the acela isn't included with TS2013. I suppose £19.99 is a decent price.

Interestingly (and I wonder if anyone else has noticed this) my copy seems to think I have the Acela even though I don't. Trying to run one of its scenarios gives me the "Failed to Load" and lists the Acela assets so I still don't have it but TS2013 thinks it exists.callum1122334455 wrote:Thanks for the info.

Re: Advice about North East Corridor
It's because the NEC comes with Acela scenarios as default for some reason. When TS2013 looks at the routes it has it makes a note of all the requirements for the scenarios that are installed and then presents you with those locos as if you have them. Another tiny little bug that needs ironing out, but not one that's very important at the mo.Dave4468 wrote:Interestingly (and I wonder if anyone else has noticed this) my copy seems to think I have the Acela even though I don't. I'd like to see TrackIR implementation instead of the stupid X-Box controller stuff that nobody likes before this little one gets fixed, but then what the hey, I'm only after a simulation and TS2013 is a console game.

Re: Advice about North East Corridor
Hi,
I could barely run the NEC with TS2012, even in legacy mode, some of it was like a slide show. Since TS2013 the performance has been transformed, I can run it in TSX mode (with generally lower settings although graphical detail at 10) now with decent smooth frame rates and this is on an old Pentium D windows XP dinosaur!! Personally I would recommend it.
Peter.

Re: Advice about North East Corridor
I picked up the NEC in the Summer Sale, in the Haulin' USA pack when it was so cheap it would have been rude not to.
I've run it a couple of times, but to my mind it's not a great route - it's long and straight (except for the tunnel out of New York which is somewhat slow and tedious), and you essentially get just four scenarios with it. The AEM-7's cruise control feature is a nice touch, and reduces the hassle of holding speed with an 8-notch controller... but it'll be a while before I come back to drive it again, I think.
Also the signalling is bewildering (apart from the 14 or so aspects, the cab signal shows different things to the lineside ones and seems to operate too late) and the scenery ends just before Newark Airport, which is a shame as it's the closest I've been IRL!
Sherman Hill looks quite good to me, but for now I've got plenty of driving still to do on WCML-N.

Re: Advice about North East Corridor
Ran the nec for the first time in a while last night. Going through that tunnel with light bloom on and all i can say is wow. I always liked the route but like a lot of folks struggled to run it in ts2012. There are quite a few things with ts2013 that are annoying me (dlc probs with the workshop and lack of qd with non rsc stuff being the main two) but what an improvement performance wise it is
Re: Advice about North East Corridor
Quite a few of us, me included, have been requesting TR support for a long time now but it seems rsc have no interest in adding it even though I do recall someone saying a while back that they did start to implement TrackIR into the core code but never got round to finishing it, so surely if they already started on the code it wouldn't be too hard to fininsh it & if they were having trouble getting it to work all they have to to is contact Natural Point, they'd be more than happy to help get TR support in ts2013 I'm sure.Fodda wrote:Dave4468 wrote:I'd like to see TrackIR implementation instead of the stupid X-Box controller stuff that nobody likes before this little one gets fixed, but then what the hey, I'm only after a simulation and TS2013 is a console game.
Re: Advice about North East Corridor
If you're only interested in NEC, you may want to wait for the next sale. I bought NEC in a pack with Acela and another addon, which gave a nice package for not to much money. Sherman Hill and London-Brihton may be interesting as well for you. So depends.
NEC is nice but only if you like creating some secnarios for yourself.
