Hmm, wasn't aware that the Northeast corridor (NEC) has been a core route.
As I am a day one user (RailWorks 1) I bought the NEC route on some blue Monday, but honestly I can not tell you whether it had become a 'core route' afterwards in RailWorks2 or RailWorks3.
Things getting more complicated I guess

Erwin
It never was a core route, but it is now, but only if you buy a certain version of the game. So content-providers can't rely on users having it because they might not get that particular version of the game.
The more I dig into this, the worse it gets. Because Hagen-Siegen, Oxford-Paddington and Newcastle-York have gone, their rolling stock isn't included in the new game either. So for example one of my scenarios on the old Oxford Paddington line had a freight train on the opposing track, but the wagons I used for that were (what was) stock in the old game. That stock's now gone so even if someone buys the new Great Western line to run my scenario, it still won't work unless they ALSO buy Ruhr-Sieg.

This is a total bloody mess.

RSC have pretty much killed third-party stuff stone dead with this update. Sure we can make trains and rolling stock but it's essentially impossible for us to provide scenarios now because of the fragmentation not only between the old game and the new, but within the new game itself !

I must admit to be confused by this. RSC themselves had stated that KUJU made a mistake selling US (Cajon Pass) and UK (Newcastle - York) versions of the old Railsimulator game, and that RSC won't be following in the same vein in order for everyone to have the same core game/routes/stock. Now I am reading that not only have RSC done something similar, but they have made it even more complicated.

Mind you, I can't really comment as I have yet to update the sim myself

Well I do think it's a shame they did not continue with pantograph routes that came with 2012, that said there's so many great routes for free. the AltenBurg-Wildau is a really excellent one. Also there's the most scenic of them all the Albula V2, yes it's supposed to be a 1000 narrow gauge but as there are no narrow gauge loks we all use various broad gauge anyway....it's gorgeous and free....and there's some great italian ones as well....I haven't tried them yet, but some really large Denmark lines that I think have pantograph lines.

This guy made a great guide to getting all these routes and where to get needed files.

So while this is annoying, there is an abundance of free routes that often rival pay routes all wired up for your E-lok

I agree Chris RSC have sold 3rd party developers up the river concerning panto routes, however perhaps linking to freeware routes may be worth considering? Torino Genova is a great one as is the mighty NEF by Erich Fallensteen everything you need in a couple of downloads and its free. RSC should consider (and maybe a request to them) releasing Seebergh bahn for free and linking up with railsim.de's upgraded version with SE and lighting.

I was just going to say, NOBODY needs to buy Hagen to Siegen, or, Seebergbahn, or, Altenburg - Wildau, as they have all been updated for TS2012 and freely obtainable from the German Railsim website, get them now, before the Germans start charging us for 'em.......

I quite agree with Chris's OP, looking in the route building thread for the last 12 months, we had a Liverpool / Crewe / Manchester route, being constructed by someone ages ago, whatever happened to it I don't know, to be honest, and I thought someone was doing London to Birmingham, unsure if that was electrified, or, not, but, we don't have many UK electric line routes in the game, probably as there aren't many to choose from.

Hi Steve,

I am rather afraid that the upgraded German default routes still depend on many of the assets from the original routes, however...

Is this only for people who bought TS2013 from new? Because I seem to have all the mentioned routes from TS2012.

Yes, it only applies to new purchasers.
@ Chris, the assets you refer to can be purchased for £2.99p from steam, European asset pack I think its called.
@ Steve, you still need the original routes for the German ones to work as they are needed for the assets.

Oh, do they really, how unfortunate for any new customers then, thanks for pointing that out, I'll go back under my rock again now.

Thanks to Martin for stating the same thing.

Hang on - are you saying they're giving away stuff that RSC want $17.99 a piece for on Steam? That's not going to last long when RSC find out about it.

Don't suppose you have a link do you? That would be a good "minimum" starting point.

That's brilliant - thanks! I don't remember seeing that there last week - I wonder if they've added it recently because of the mounting dissent?

It was added at the same time the old RW routes were added as stand-alone items

Hi,

I was thinking in creating a little route and giving it for free with the addons, but then got stuck with this trouble: There is no default transversal assets for ALL users. For example:

1. You can use default TS2012 items, but new users must buy the community asset pack. Ok, it's very cheap but you are forcing to buy the item. That's not good.
2. You can use default TS2013 assets, but old users will have to buy one of the routes that maybe they don't have, need or want to buy.

I didn't realize the problem until I started thinking about it. Of course, the cheapest option is number one, but you're still forcing people to buy something. I would like to participate creating a fictional freeware route and giving it for free. I'll look into that.

Best regards,
David.-
