BR Sectors Scenarios/Routes

Post by DescendingSadly »

Hi everyone
I want to make the most of the AP 37/Mk1’s/Mk2’s etc, my favourite era being the Sectors era, but I don’t really know much about it.

Are there any websites or books that could give me some ideas for scenarios, and more importantly, are there any decent routes that would be well suited for this era?

I would also like to use the Class 50/86 but unsure what their status and use was like in the sectors era, I presume the 86 was only ever seen on the WCML.

Many thanks!

The Class 86 has been seen all over the Electrified sections of the WCML
They also worked on the GEML in NSE days to Cambridge but not on the Norwich Main line apart from a railtour or two.

Ay Valley is a good route for BR Sectors Scenarios - the whole route is set in that time period

The JT Scottish ECML is set in BR days

RosGar have done a lot of scenarios where the route might be newer but they have backdated the trains

Both Preston to Carlisle and Carlisle to Glasgow are ideal for BR Sectors Scenarios.

Are you getting confused with another class as Class 86's where actually the staple diet of Traction for InterCity services on the Norwich mainline (GEML) from 1985 onwards , Initially from Liverpool St to Ipswich then onwards to Norwich once the electrification was complete . Usage further increased with the completion of the 25Kv electrification of the North London line thus allowing electrically hauled freight services from the WCML to access the GEML and the LT&S .

My bad
I had assumed the 86s did not reach Ipswich and Norwich until after privatisation
