Missing Class 66 Sounds

I have the Steam Class 66 v2 installed, and was trying to drive Colas Rail 66844, this loco I believe is included in the UKTS 30618 Class 66 reskins.
The loco will load but there are no sounds from inside or outside the loco.
Please could anyone point me in the right direction as to the cause of this problem.
All other 66 locos are fine.

Does the loco require any additional soundpacks to function fully? If you don't have them and it references them then it won't make a sound. It should say in the readme if that is the case.

The readme does not make any reference to sounds, only the geo file.

Do you have the AP class 66 Pro sound pack installed?
This will cause some older reskins to have no sound.

I believe the file that you mention does not work with the AP Pro Sound Pack.

Yes I do, as you kindly point out, that is probably the answer.
May I ask is there a way round this problem please?

Yes, and it's not hard.
You need to produce a new .bin file for the reskin based on the working AP enabled loco's .bin file.
Cut the silent .bin out of the game and just paste it on your desktop so it's available as a reference if needed. Next, copy the good .bin into the reskin's folder and edit this to select the right livery and to point to the correct .dcsv, .GeoPcDx, and numbers.bin files.
Save and enjoy!
Any bother, just ask :D

Hi Gary,
With respect, as from past experience you are trying to get through to a thick piece of wood here. As for fear of doing untold damage, I would not
know where to start.
It seems that the problem lies with all those locos included in the UKTS File 30618.
I like to ask you good people because in the past your help has been invaluable to me, but I am so afraid of messing with files if I do not know how or where to go
I tend to leave well alone put up with the problem.

Kindest regards
Barrie

Not to worry Barrie, there are many ways to remove the outer layers of a feline.
If you send me the working .bin file for the loco, and the .bin for the reskin I'll happily make the changes for you---only slight problem is that I'm away from home for 4 days after tonights shift so you'd just have to be a little patient.

I am in a similar boat to PINZA9007 regarding "trying to get through to a thick piece of wood" :( I have only purchased Steam/AP/JT materiel for TS 2016, but am finding that running provided scenarios within a route quite often fail. I always check what else is required to successfully meet the requirement and obtain same. So comes as a bit of a shock to find stuff failing. I come in here a few times each day, but I must confess that the standard here is waaaay over my head. I understand all [most] of the written words, but, more often than not, cannot seem to grasp the meaning of same :) Such is life for a new [to trains] septuagenarian I suspect :)

Regards.

Maurice.

I completely agree with you Milamber, I am able to do a little with files but when it comes to for example - editing bin files and loads of technical isssues
I am lost, and for fear of doing untold damage to the TS setup, I don't bother.
gptech has been a "Bible" for me over the years and helped me immensely.
One example is the present one - gptech asked me to send him 2 files for him to sort for me, but I have tried copying the 2 files but can I heck as like
get them into the message to send.

We're back to that damned cat again Barrie!!...

To simplify things a bit I'll grab the reskin pack from the library, and as the forum doesn't support attaching .bin files (not a surprise) mail me the AP enabled default .bin to gptechuk2000 @ yahoo.co.uk (minus the spaces around the @)

Hi Maurice, welcome to the exciting and often confusing world of TS. If you read anything you don't understand, don't be afraid to ask for an explanation---we're not a bad bunch in here (usually anyway) and whilst Barrie is doing agreat job of setting me up as some sort of 'guru' (the cheques in the post Barrie, I knew appointing you as Advertising Director would be a good move :) ) I'm certainly not the only one who'd provide fuller details to help you get your head around things.
Having bother with supplied scenarios from DTG is unusual, although not unheard of, but those from JT and AP often feature reskins you may not have installed. In the case of AP the *missing* content is often detailed in the download page of the associated product, and in most cases available from that page as an Extra Stock Pack.
If you post back--better still start a new thread just for your issue--detailing a scenario that's causing bother I'll bet that between us we can help you resolve it very quickly.

Just to leave no loose ends...

We've succeeded in producing new .bin files that utilise the AP soundpack, and zhubuntu (the original author) has very kindly given permission for them to be released as a patch.
I'm away on holiday for a fortnight so I'll do that when I get back, but until then if anybody would like the revised files they're at:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/f0b88lcl7ied9 ... s.zip?dl=0

Just extract the contents of the Assets.zip into your Assets folder and it'll overwrite the existing files. It will also install in each loco's folder a copy of the original .bin, suffixed with --ORIGINAL which effectively makes those particular .bin files not .bin files as far as the game is concerned so they'll be ignored. This means they won't have any impact on the game nor should they be accidentally edited. If things don't work out, simply deleting the revised .bin file from any of the folders and renaming the corresponding --ORIGINAL file back to .bin (simply by deleting the --ORIGINAL part of the name) gets you back to square one.
