[Moderator Comment: dorlan - Images changed to links as they exceed the forum limit of 800 pixels wide and 640 pixels deep.] First i'll start of by saying hello, my name is Gary and i hope once i learn a bit i can start being some help to you guys and not just being one sided, but i've recently got into building (As in a 6 hour blitz last night learning as i went along) a version of the Inglenook shunting puzzle for TS2016 and ive come up against a bit of a barrier from carrying on any further in the form of the track deciding it wants to be a set of point when i join it to a peice of track, i thought just deleting the point handle would work but unfortuanly not. I then decided to just try re do the bit with full length peices of track and it just wont connect up.

Thank you for any help, im really stumped.

I too ran into this type of problem when I first began. It is virtually impossible to join one end of a piece of track to another. The trick is to extend one end with a gentle curve, beginning from a bit before the point you want to link the two tracks, then extend the other track joining to create a set of points. You can then delete the unwanted bits of track. Where there are track complexities you might find it easier to lift the lot and relay from the point of the join.

I now meticulously plan my track laying ahead so I know exactly what is going where and work out the best order to lay it (I have a practice route for experimenting laying of complex track first as success depends upon getting angles right etc otherwise tracks won't join). Remember you can set track type and speed, a setting to yard allows tighter curves to be laid then you can alter type and speed later if required. You can add or remove manual point levers by selecting the track, altering the setting in bottom left fly out, split on the red triangle and re-weld.

I have also found it wise to use F2 regularly to save your work and to take a route backup before each editing session, and during long sessions in case it goes wrong.

Hope that helps.

Thank you dewilkison! I actually decided to just delete the track and restart as im not bound by a actual track plan.

Thank you for telling me F2 is save, ive been having to save via going into the scenario editer which you can guess is not the best way to do it haha.

Once again, thank you.
