Is there a method of installing TS2014 outside of Steam without Steam updating it to TS2015?
I am sure at one point I had TS2014 running on a seperate drive to my main TS2015 Steam installation but when I now launch TS2014 I find it has upgraded to TS2015
Any help appreciated
Robert

No, as part of the install process is upgrading to the latest version. You can however replace a TS2015 installation with a TS2014 one once the install is complete. This does mean that you need a backup copy of TS2014, do you have one?SammieDog wrote:Is there a method of installing TS2014 outside of Steam without Steam updating it to TS2015?

Many thanks for reply.
Yes I do have a TS2014 backup. If I use this to restore the updated version of TS on the seperate drive will it remain as TS2014 or will it keep getting updated to TS2015?
Thanks again

Re: Install TS2014 outside of Steam
Assuming you have TS2015 already installed within steam it's quite easy to run TS2014 without it being updated by Steam. In fact I have many copies of past versions of RW still on my PC though rarely run them. Just place the Railworks folder for TS2014 in a place of your choosing so long as it is outside of Steam. Provided Steam is running you will be able to run TS2104 by clicking on railworks.exe or by clicking a shortcut to it you have already created. It will happily be left untouched by Steam. I still have a version of Railworks2 somewhere!

Perfectly true Mark, but the important part (underlined by myself for emphasis) of the opening question is:
SammieDog wrote:Is there a method of installing TS2014 outside of Steam without Steam updating it to TS2015?
answers another question, one that can only be asked if he has a copy of TS2014 available; something that seems unlikely from the opening post.choccy wrote:Assuming you have TS2015 already installed........Just place the Railworks folder for TS2014
Re: Install TS2014 outside of Steam
I expect that the OP has only used 'installing' in a loose sense and simply wants to run TS2014 in an unamended form.

I am lauching it with railworks.exe from the seperate folder - not from the steam apps folder.

Re: Install TS2014 outside of Steam
That should work, the only thing that springs to mind that would prevent TS2014 loading would be that a copy of the game was already running--make sure TS2015 isn't running before you double click the TS2014 RailWorks.exe.SammieDog wrote:I am lauching it with railworks.exe from the seperate folder - not from the steam apps folder.
