Mornin' Folks,
I noticed last week that the AI trains have disappeared from the WCML Over Shap route when in Quick Drive, instead of having a selection of 47s and 87s come pass throughout the trip and yards full of wagons I instead get the odd 92 or 45. I'm not sure what has caused this although it started right after I got the 45 a few weeks ago, I guessed it could be due to lack of space on my HDD but that's been cleared out. I'm rather puzzled and a little miffed as that was one thing that this route had over the others in that there were AI trains running too.
Can anyone shed any light on this or perhaps offer suggestions as to how I can add my own AI to QD scenarios?
Cheers,
Phil

There seems to be a misconception of late that disc space, or rather the lack of it, can cause the game to only 'half work'. Lack of space means that an add on installation (for example) wouldn't complete because of it, or in the worst case the game would totally fall over if Windows doesn't have the space to assign to the page file (unlikely, as that should be allocated before the amount of available space is reported, but could be an issue if the page file has to be resized)
You may get assets not fully loading because of a shortage of memory (which admittedly could also be related to a paging problem) but you'd probably see the couplings and hear the sounds.
How big is your hard drive, and what amount of free space is reported by Windows? Are both the game and Windows on the same drive?

Re: AI Has gone disappeared WCML over Shap
I am aware that it is not necessarily a reduction in hard disk space which would cause this to happen, I mentioned it as at the time the drive in question which has a capacity of 880GB had been loitering at around the 50GB free mark and at one point had got as low as a couple of megabytes. This was due to some videos which were to be edited duplicating repeatedly in error and eating the space up.Why?
I do know what you mean with regards to seeing the couplings and hearing the train has this happened previously on an older computer, I'm glad to know what caused that though.
Thanks for the link to the guide, I'm sure I'd read it previously and "lost it".
Cheers,
Phil

...
And the same situation is on WLOS and (old) ECML, as this function was broken by the latest patch (48.9a), which, generally speaking, ignores the setting of the year made in the QD scenario.
There is nothing you can do about that (well, you can try to dig up the older version of the executable from somewhere and/or you can manually edit every single preload *.bin file affected) and it has nothing to do with disc space.

I see, that's a shame as the AI really make the route more immersive. I am glad however that it's not something I have done so hopefully it can be fixed, I'll try and make my own AI services.
