Problems after Installing Scottish East Coast Main Line

Post by Richardflea »

Hi all.

I've just bought and installed my first add-on, the SECML from Just Trains http://www.justtrains.net/product/scott ... e-download

To go with this, I've also downloaded the "Class 170 DMU" from Steam and Mully's "Revamped and updated! All JT Default scenarios "Cloned" with Class 170's" from http://mullys.webs.com/

My problem is this:

Not a single scenario from the SECML pack is playable. Upon loading of every single one, I get consist builder errors and I have no idea what to do.
The preset scenarios, added into the Standard mode all feature consist builder errors, as shown here:

Even when I go into Quick drive mode and make something that's not a preset scenario, it does the same.

The "End Of Shift" scenario just has an infinite loading screen and doesn't even get that far.
Also, why do all my scenarios look like they're covered in sheet snow?!

I'm really frustrated at this, especially as it's cost me almost £40... and for what?

Bear in mind, this is my very first add-on. The game is 100% vanilla prior to installing this.
All of the original scenarios that come with TS2014 work just fine.
I've uninstalled and reinstalled the add-on.
I have cleared the cache (settings>tools>clear cache) every time I've uninstalled/reinstalled and yet, I'm still having trouble.
I've verified the integrity of the game in Steam and it's completely fine.
I've searched around but I can't find any single person who has had the same issue as I'm having with this specific add-on.

Much help would be appreciated.
I'm very disappointed.

You're missing some items of rolling stock; the HAA Hopper is shown in two of those error messages and the other two I have no idea of as they won't load for me.
Anyway, this particular wagon was default stock with earlier versions of the game but isn't now, but are instead available as an *extra*. (http://store.steampowered.com/app/208300/)
The Just Trains web site does say:
If you have or have purchased the following routes from STEAM since the 20th September then we are told that the required asset pack is included. This probably means that you will not need to purchase the appropriate asset pack to allow a particular Just Trains route to operate. This is not guaranteed but worth checking before purchasing either of the asset packs.

The routes when purchased from STEAM that supposedly include the European Community Asset Pack (http://store.steampowered.com/app/208300/) are:

Bristol to Exeter when purchased from STEAM, Class 111 DMU Pack, Cologne-Dusseldorf, Colton and Northern, Doncaster Works, East Coast Main Line, Edinburgh - Glasgow, Falmouth Branch, Fort Kent to Eagle Lake, GARL, Great Western Main Line, Hatchet Hill Quarry, Ohio Steel 2, Portland Terminal, Portsmouth Direct Line, Rascal and Cottonwood, Ruhr-Sieg, Somerset and Dorset Joint Railway, West Coast Mainline North, Woodhead Line.

The routes when purchased from STEAM that supposedly include the US Community Asset Pack (http://store.steampowered.com/app/208306/) are:

Bristol to Exeter, Cajon Pass, Cologne Dusseldorf, Colton and Northern, Fort Kent to Eagle Lake, Northeast Corridor, Ohio Steel 2, Portland Terminal, Portsmouth Direct Line, Rascal and Cottonwood, West Coast Mainline North.
That also explains why you're missing some ground textures, SECML was written with those older assets so it's no surprise it doesn't work if you don't have them.

Twelve quid for the pack, which seems a bit steep if ypou're only short of a single wagon and a bit of grass so if you detail fully what routes you do have we'll be able to tell you how to swap things about so that it does work---and whilst you're waiting for a response pre-empt the suggestions by popping over to http://www.rstools.info/downloads.html and downloading and installing RW Tools, which really is an indispensable piece of software; the Swiss Army Knife for TS20xx!!
For less than the price of a pint you'll be able to *fix* most issues without it hitting your pocket.

I can understand your disappointment, and unusually for JT no mention of the changes and newer requirements appears on the page relating to SECML so it's easy for folk such as yourself to not be aware of what's what, but chalk it up as part of the learning experience and something that's very easily overcome.

http://www.justtrains.net/contact-us.

Try asking JT about your problem using the link above!
They are usually very good at responding to queries.

A quote from Mullys web site.

PLEASE NOTE:- If you are an owner of Train-Simulator-2013, but you did NOT have Train-Simulator-2012 previously installed, then please be aware that the "default" assets and consists included with Train-Simulator 2013 has been changed. In this case, you may need to buy and download/install the US Community Asset Pack (Click here) and the European Community Asset Pack (Click here) sold separately for your Train-Simulator 2013 installation for this route and the scenarios for it to work properly

Pity as far as I can see that no mention of this on the JT Web site. :o
Edit
Sorry JT. Found it in small print at the bottom of the page.

System Requirements:

•Train Simulator 2014 with the EU and USA Asset Packs installed

Ah, thanks guys.

I bit the bullet and downloaded the European Asset pack and it's solved my problems, as expected.
It had a couple locos that were of some interest to me anyway so I figured, why not?

Would have been nice if JT had made a bit more fuss about what you needed, rather than a small requirement in a hidden menu.
At least it wouldn't have caught me out had they made a bit more hype.

Cheers!

Yes, this one seems to have slipped through the net as JT are usually faultless about the requirements----in fact on one of their support pages they over-do it a touch and make it seem as if a chunk of their products won't work at all on TS2014!
Once again though, don't let this influence your opinion of JT; a quick browse through the forums will show how valued and respected they are and of course part of the *blame* for the situation could be attributed to RSC changing the default content of the game.
