Hello all, im in the market now looking for a new pc. the only concern is that my wife(the expert in the family
) insists we still use norton for security. does this still affect performance with ts2013 as we prefer not to disable it,or would that depend on the spec?many thanks. Stan.

I suggest you try Avast, which is (I believe) superior to Norton, is free and works quite happily alongside TS2013 on my PC.

No problems with Norton Internet Security and TS2013 here. If you do decide to buy, shop around as it's normally cheaper to buy it on DVD than to download it from the Norton site!

Personally I dont rate Norton,but as you're asking for advice about it rather than asking for alternatives to it...
any security software has potential to affect performance, Norton is really no worse nor better than other offerings but as you've surmised a lot depends on the specification of your machine.
If you find performance does take a discernable 'hit', you can safely exclude the ..Steam\steamapps\common\railworks folder (and sub folders) from the "on demand scanning" rotine of any AV program. This just means that the files aren't scanned each time they're accessed but you still have the AV running to guard against any *nasties* coming in from the 'net. As you don't have to be on-line to play the game there is very little risk of any TS2013 file beig infected whilst you play; by setting up firewall rules you could prevent the game files accessing the 'net anyway to doubly guard against any infection.
