Station assets for new route challenge
Ok,
After a chat with a few folks on here I propose that I build a new station kit that users can then place in all of the new challenge routes. These can then be packed up/shared etc with no restrictions.
I will make 10 objects (number off the top of my head), create a wish list and I will look to model the most popular.
The objects should be modular so that they can be used in the same area.
I know some will want brick sand some will want stone or wood, but lets see what folks come up with and if Geoff ok's it then they are free to do whatever folks want with them.
cheers
Derek

I don't know your exact pipeline, but you say that you'll create a limited amount of items why not just simply re-texture them into brick, stone and wood provided it's suitable? correct me if I'm wrong but that's the way I'd see it fit.

Re: Station assets for new route challenge
Thanks Derek
This is going to be a very interesting Challenge.
It may be that we will put together a single asset pack for all Challengers to use and distribute with their routes so that Challengers only have to install one pack and users only have to install one complete package.
A station pack would fit in well with the proposed idea ... to be announced soon

hi,
Based on the "First up, best dressed " theory
.....
I would appreciate a "modern" reskin of platforms with the todays tiled surface and yellow line with the white tiled edge.
Assuming a modern challenge theme of course
Derek, Really appreciate your outside office hours involvement.

Re: Station assets for new route challenge
This is a very generous offer Derek, thank you
My one reservation would be that everyone comes up with a wish list of UK station assets and Geoff then announces that the challenge requires route builders to produce a Continental route for example
That said, I have a couple of thoughts:
A generic open lattice footbridge similar to this

And I don't know how practical this would be, but a lofted platform canopy would be quite useful I think
Kind regards
Steve

Re: Station assets for new route challenge
Hi
The current plan is to put together a single pack of assets for Challengers to use in addition to default assets. It will not be of much use to create a package full of assets that already exist in the UKTS library as the idea is to try and create some brand new assets that the Challengers can use and later all UKTS members will be able to use them as in their own routes. The assets that finally make it into the asset pack will be a modest number of useful items.

Re: Station assets for new route challenge
Hi
I'm finding it hard to differentiate between what I think I might like to request for the Challenge, and what I think I might like for my own general purposes... But I'll throw in a couple.
Some wooden platforms would be nice and I like the idea of a lofted canopy, although I'm not sure what it would look like.
I don't think I've seen a goods yard weighbridge and hut, so that would be good too.
As I said it's tricky trying to come up with a list for something that's an unknown entity. Please feel free to ignore!
Cheers
Bob
(I appear to be talking myself into taking part again...

Had I remembered it Geoff I wouldn't have mentioned it, I understand the purpose here is to create some unique assets for the challenge - put it down to old age!

Re: Station assets for new route challenge
I Would like some steps and / or disabled ramps so that Station buildings can be placed at platform height and will let the "peds*" get into the station to buy their tickets!
Thanks for the offer of new bits and bobs Derek

Re: Station assets for new route challenge
Could I be really cheeky and ask for this bridge, but only because its on quite a few stations in the south and maybe useful?
