Yet another great experimental update ! The improvements keep rolling on ! For those that are reluctant to try these experimental releases can I just say that I have not experienced a single glitch that has in any way affected my files or the function of MSTS at all to date. Yes I do backup but up to now have not ever had the need to re-install. As for the latest X.1542 release there is a tiny glitch in that the locaton labels on the F6 key are now in black text rather than the previous blue and yellow. I do however accept that no correspondance will be entered into regarding these releases as they are experimental and evoluntionary and it is something you can live with. Again more great effort from those involved in the development work being done on OR and from a personal viewpoint I enjoy MSTS in OR more than TS2013 for the varied diversity and massive back catalogue of freeware routes, locos and rolling stock etc. I don't have a problem paying for items if I really desire them but TS2013 can become a massively expensive pastime if you wish to run every paid for or freeware scenario published and my available disposable income does not allow for that !

I agree, OR is coming on in leaps and bounds, with better signalling, AI despatching, more realistic steam effects, cab sway and user selectable superelevation. The latest experimental version x1542 also allows the East Lancashire Railway route to be played (it previously crashed).

One point though, Bartdude, you wrote

Not strictly true, you can report errors in the experimental versions through the OpenRails Launchpad bug reporting system. Full details on the OR website. Be sure to mention which OR exp Version you are using, what route (if bug is route dependent), activity used and stock if bug relates to a particular item of rolling stock. It is also useful to attach (using the facility provided) the OR log file. You can also attach screenshots to the bug report if relevant. I have reported seven errors so far, three have been fixed and four are currently triaged.

The F6 location label problem has been fixed in the SVN version (1544 I think) SVN is now up to 1551 as of the time of this post.
It appears the experimental release is just the SVN version that appears on Saturday, could be wrong on this though, I personally have had no problems with the SVN releases.

It would be safe to say that VERY few with an interest in OR are running the current official development release.

The Openrails team will gladly except bug reports on all latest versions of OR as long as they of course well thought out and enough info is given to make the problem reproduceable.

Now just incase.............
From wikepedia,

"Apache Subversion (often abbreviated SVN, after the command name svn) is a software versioning and revision control system distributed under an open source license. Developers use Subversion to maintain current and historical versions of files such as source code, web pages, and documentation. Its goal is to be a mostly compatible successor to the widely used Concurrent Versions System (CVS)."

The program allows one when writing any text based file to store and retrieve __ANY__ version no matter how old of the file one is writing, REALLY great for things such as writing programs and in fact any long in use text file. Note: I use CVS myself having not as yet got around to changing over to Subversion (if its not broken don't fix it).

Yeah, pretty much that's all it is. :) No special testing is done or anything, though we may skip a week if there are big known problems, otherwise it's just whatever's there.
