Hi there.

I was very pleased to be the recipient of a new laptop for Christmas unfortunately it will not run MSTS



There is an issue with AMD/ATI graphics chipsets and Windows 8 which causes crash to desktop when MSTS is booted.

Therefore I installed all of the MSTS files as you normally would including the microsoft tools update.
Used Route riter to check everything with the default routes before adding Xtracks, UKfinescale, and New Roads 4

Installed New Forest and re-ran route-riter which told me all snow textures were missing (correct for this route)

Deleted the desktop icon for MSTS

Installed the latest version of ORTS

and it runs as sweet as a nut in ORTS



I am going to try to add the ORTS logo to my forum signature as future models will be tested in ORTS

I should keep an eye on any ATI graphic driver updates, with any luck the problem will be fixed. (Not because MSTS won't run but something else "more important" may be having problems as well!)

A while back there was a problem with Nvidia drivers whereby MSTS had frame rates so slow it was unplayable. After a few months of regularly trying the latest Nvidia drivers the problem "went away" and you now get excellent performance from MSTS on Nvidia cards. There was never a mention in the driver release notes about a fix for MSTS bad frame rates but I did notice some other, more up to date games, were being promised improvements of 50%+. Hmm!

Might give this ago my problem was the radeon graphic card that MSTS won`t work
