Re: I Hate Steam
OK Paul, that will do. We've been here before on other threads - if you've nothing helpful or constructive to say, please resist the urge to post like this, slagging off Steam and jumping back onto the same old bandwagon every time a member has a problem with it. Like it or not, it's an integral part of RW and I cannot see that changing.

Re: I Hate Steam
I'm not going to appologise for my stance against a system which treats its users as potential pirates. And I did have something new to contribute, the latest news link on the PC Zone website. I understand what you're saying, Ashley, but I didn't start the conversation, I just contributed to it.

Re: I Hate Steam
But really and truly the only "News" in that article is that things on Steam are a 'bit overpriced', something many harcore / true gamers already know. For them (us / myself) they usually look at the other options first i.e direct purchase from the devs (in the case of a lot of "indie" releases), retail channels, etc and then decide which is the best method to purchase / ease of hassle. Of course if it's a Steam exclusive, then you've just got to pay...Paul_Boland wrote:I'm not going to appologise for my stance against a system which treats its users as potential pirates. The piracy side of things are actually quite good for the Steam system, yes there have been the odd 'cracked' release of Steam games, but it's usually DVD versions of games that are found in the 'Scene' releases. So it does for the industry what was originally intended. i.e cut piracy

Re: I Hate Steam
That article can hardly strike fear into anyone, unless they already have a bias against Steam. In his main argument against Steam was the fact that they are money grabbing??
Sorry?? So basically you are telling me that we, as customers, cannot make decisions off our own back??
Steam must (removed by moderator) hate me then!!
What tosh!!
I've had Steam for about 4 years now, and have only suffered a good experience from them.

If you look back through your own posts, you'll find that you yourself quoted part of a conversation with Tim Gatland that pretty much answers your own question...Acorncomputer wrote:Hi Ashley

Re: I Hate Steam
Granted, but there's been absolutely no indication since that statement that such a change is planned or even likely - quite the contrary.

Re: I Hate Steam
Ok folks, I think we've been down this road too often already and I'm sure we can all see where this is heading.
As I've now had a "complaint" requesting that the thread be locked, and since the original problem has been addressed, and to avoid the inevitable situation where we carry on until someone gets a warning, it's closing time for this thread. Any complaints to another moderator.
