Derek has started a competition to name the headland in this project. I cannot get it all in the comments section of the blog but this is an idea -

By the time Britain had reached the dark, dark ages, Wotsa Point had already been an important strategic headland for thousands of years, and had been the scene of many fierce battles between the defending native British and successive would be conquerors. (It didn't quite work with the Romans but that is another story).

In 807 AD, the point formed part of the Kingdom of Sox which was ruled with an iron fist by King Derricus 1. Always wary of losing his Kingdom to invaders from the sea, King Derricus decided to give his subjects a confidence boost and decreed that all of his subjects should gather at the headland at noon on the 1st October 807 on the threat of death for not turning up. He gave strict instructions to his aides that everyone must come, and special instructions were given to his most trusted Knight, Adumus of the Ford at Guil, to ensure that there was adequate food and water for these thousands of people and the event must be an enjoyable experience for them to remember.

Noon came and the thousands of subjects gathered around King Derricus as he mounted the specially built podium that was placed at the very southernmost point of the headland. The crowd were in a good mood as the weather was fine and the food had been excellent and they had just enjoyed an entertaining warm up half an hour from Baron Paulus of Jackinson. Derricus said nothing as the hushed crowds waited, he then turned to the sea and shouted loudly and firmly 'Come on, have a go and see what you get'.

After a short silence, the crowd broke into a long and sustained cheer which was stirring stuff to see. But then, tragedy, the podium started to creak as the crowds pushed forward and then toppled over the cliff into the sea taking King Derricus with it. The crowd went silent, except for a brave strong voice which shouted 'leave it to me'.

There emerged a fine young man by the name of Timotheodam Gatland who did not hesitate to run towards the cliff edge and dive into the crashing waves below. The crowds could not see much of what was going on but eventually Timotheodam emerged from the unforgiving sea dragging with him the limp but alive body of King Derricus, and hauled him up onto the rocks and the great King was saved.

To show his gratitude to Timotheodam, King Derricus renamed the headland Braveheart Point to honour the man who showed no fear just when he was needed and to this very day there is a ceremony on Braveheart Point every 1st October where massed crowds shout those enduring words, 'Come on, have a go and see what you get'.

If Portland is the inspiration you'll be thinking about prisons, warships, windsurfers, pebble beaches and quarries, maybe served by a gravity/horse worked tramway. And maybe an Olympics 2012 sailing event.

And of course a biscuit factory.

As Derek has alluded to, I am indeed working on some wagon stuff. Apologies to any one who was looking forward to the Terrier, but I can only allocate so many hours to this due to my busy schedule, and I can't foresee myself being able to bring the Terrier up to my personal standards in the time I have.

is it possible to post an asset wish list? then people can claim item that they believe to be within their capabilities
