When I start Railworks now the main window states " You are currently not connected to the internet".
I downloaded the Isle of Wight add on and payed for it on-line and all the time the screen still showed the message. Obviously, it makes no difference, but why would such an error message be generated.

Re: Internet connection
It's not an error message, just a statement of fact! I normally run with my PC disconnected from the internet and I get it all the time, apart from those rare occasions when I run Railworks whilst connected.

Re: Internet connection
if your not playing offline then i guess your firewall has blocked railworkproc.exe (think thats what its called!)from accessing the internet, i find that after every update i have to re-allow my firewall to allow this program to access

Hi,
When Daffer is actually connected to the internet and downloading stuff from Steam, that message 'You are not currently connected to the internet' simply should not appear. Just another of those silly things about Steam I'm afraid.

Re: Internet connection
hi, that is why i suspect it will be his firewall blocking the program, not really a problem with steam,Oldpufferspotter wrote:Hi,

Hi Daffer,
Sorry to go on about this, and I don't really want to highjack your query, but this is puzzling me!
Gav:
If it was Daffer's firewall preventing the program downloading, how come it did download alright, despite the message about not being connected to the internet being there while the download was taking place?
(I presume Daffer did not answer a message from the firewall and okay it to download.)
Sorry to be a pain,
regards Ted.

Re: Internet connection
I had a similar problem and initially blamed Steam for it. Actualy the fault lay with my ISP (Tiscali) who block access to Steam at peak times (17.00 to 23.00 usually). I now remain on offline mode unless I'm downloading an addon or there is an update. Also I only go online at off peak times and when the download is complete go offline again.
Hope this helps.

Re: Internet connection
hi, my point was that the railworksproc.exe may be blocked by the firewall, this program often changes after an update, each time i have to allow it through my firewall, this does not affect how steam runs, just the web page shown when starting railworksOldpufferspotter wrote:Hi Daffer,

EDIT: Daffers' download worked fine only problem was the not currently connected message on the start up screen

Hi Gav
Thanks for that. I have made a note for future for when I am able to upgrade my machine and reconsider upgrading to RW.
regards Ted.
