Thats fine Andrew and I can see your point. To me the game is just getting really boring with lack of commercial routes . I have been looking forward to the Bristol Exeter route from Just trains but everything seems to be of higher priority for Just trains.

Not for me either I'm afraid. As others have said, I'd rather see more attention focused on fixing bugs and improving the core sim.

I appreciate that some will find these suggested enhancements compelling but, for me, they actually disappoint me. Having stayed with RS since day one, and having been persuaded that RW might just provide the answers to the huge potential but fatally flawed inplementation that was RS in my view, I bought it. Whilst I still feel that the product we have now, through the updates that Steam enables, is incrementally getting better, I'm still awaiting some core problems (as I see them) to be addressed.
I've never seen "competition", "scoring" or "kudos" as necessary or even likeable aspects of any railway simulation so I'm not excited by this at all. That's not to say that I'm anti-RW in any way, and I keep a positive and open mind on the matter, but if the innovations currently being suggested serve to send the product in a different direction to what I want out of a simulator, or overtake the need (in my view) to address the core problems that currently prevent the simulation (and I stress that word) being as good as it could and should be, I'm likely to be deleting it from my computer and staying with MSTS for my rail simulation needs. The only reason I've not done that so far is my faith that the existing issues with RW will be addressed - What I've just read tends to suggest that may not happen, but I'm happy to be proved wrong...

Hi everyone
I think point scoring etc suggests Railworks is merely a "game" rather than a simulator?
Unfortunately I have never liked point scoring and I personally do not think this is needed in a simulator.
I accept others may feel differently that is their right
Kind regards Stephen

Hi Guys,
Just to point out that this is not replacing any enhancements or bug fixing we have planned, all of those things are still being worked on.
Comments welcome either way, but please try to stay on topic.

Hi, ...
For me personally, it brings nothing, if I get an evaluation of my driving skills or not.
But for a simulation, there may well bring some joy to other users.
I have new tracks, vehicles and objects important.
But this is just a personal assessment.

With the majority here, have no interest in it, but if others do and it doesn't effect my sim experience then fine.

Well im adicted to achivements on the 360 with 14415 of them
But how can achivements be intergrated to what we have now?
like Need For Speed Shift you get a star for going round the track and break the time of the lap record.
If it gives me something to work at evan if i fail then ill try again keeps the playability.
So im all up for the challange so bring it on.

But doesnt RW have this now? It tells you how much you have broken the speed limit, if you was on time at each station etc. Doing this point scoring will make this more of a game than a simulation.

This message has been edited by a ModeratorI hate to be negative and I’m going to be. For the time being, forget it. As the person in charge of the development I do says, [Moderator Comment: jp4712 - bad language removed], just that “features” such as this are detracting from the point.
Unless your adding achievements like “Shortest time to make a scenario that works”, “Least errors in AI traffic” and “Least Exceptions” to your proposed achievement set, I doubt I will want to try.
OK, that was an acidic comment, but unless you make things easier or better documented for people who want your program to succeed and are willing to take the time to try and create content for your program, your doomed.
I’m sure your support in-box is full of issues, show people that your addressing them please.
Kind regards,
Shad.

As competition doesn't turn me on, I'd have no interest in this feature.
What would interest me is cooperative online multi-player capability. It would be so cool for a bunch of people to meet online and work a scenario together with each user operating a different train. Steam appears to provide the infrastructure for this kind of thing, so why not enable RW to take advantage of it?
Of course it goes without saying that there are many existing problems that need fixing yesterday, and that your resources should be focused on this before adding new functionality.

Let my try to be constructive on several levels.
A) In terms of public relations, I suggest to call this off before AI collisions and dispatcher madness are history. Even if I trust you and want to believe that what you say is true, I cannot see how these first test scenarios materialised out of nothingness, with no one at RSC spending a minute to create them. And how all the planning and discussion does not engage people who could help with pressing issues.
We always hear that different people have different skills and that as a consequence, not everyone can work on the important things all the time. But it despairs me to see so many people work on so many things that will not make or brake RW.
I understand the need to sell an engine every now and then to keep the cookies flowing. But a free game update? Or would that be a for-pay service? If so, please do it and use the money to fix the game.
B) I try hard to understand the format of various files, to help fixing broken files, to find workaround for current limitations, to help with the creation of dearly needed complementary tools. Now, if I publish such knowledge once I have it, I would be a major spoil-sports, because then people could fake a scenario save near completion and just run it to the end.
On the other hand, if you encrypt the files to make them cheat-safe, you prevent -- of course -- the deployment of external tools. This means that you need to be very, very careful in drawing the line, and the past has not shown RSDL as lucky in doing this. E.g., how long did RSDL representatives tell us that XML editing is the evil. Now, you acknowledge appreciating RW_Tools, but it took a quite while.
C) Certainly you will fix the departure signal (guard whistle after passenger boarding) and the display of departure time and expected arrival time first, how else could we run timely? And I hope you do not forget the logging of speed restrictions imposed by signals, or have you given up on winning users outside UK?
In a way, it really makes me happy, if I can put myself into a positive mood, to see you assume that the game will run fine, without any of the nasty things not to mention in this thread. I do hope you do that. Then I am fine.
On the other hand, I fear a world in which converted racing car aficionados do funny things with trains that are a joke to anyone with a clue. I could also be a very interesting and clever game, e.g., using Swiss or Danish signals (which feature a wealth of signal aspects prescribing maximum speed), always driving as fast as allowed. But something in my guts cannot get constructive about comparing these two visions and guessing which one will be the more likely one.
D) The really constructive punch, however, is that I really like having ideas discussed first and called off then, instead of finding them in my Steam update one day when the mess complete.

hi
the guys who want this feature, have fun and enjoy it.

for me personally this feature brings nothing, and it seems i'm not the
only one who feels like this. i only want a nice simulator with some new graphical updates. and after 3 months of RW, i still can't see
some nice "new" features. i think first of all it's better to support the content creators and the route builders intensively, so that they can
create they're things with better conditions, this means better signals, new graphical updates etc. after fixing that the developers can
think about not so popular features like "scoring" or "career mode". for a succesfull trainsimulator game it only needs 2 things, realistic
signals and visually realistic routes.
sorry moderators, i go a little bit offtopic. this is only my argument, and i respect every future moves from the developers.

Can you or someone make a separate post on what you want as a content creator/builder? Hopefully others can add their viewpoints.
Other than that I like the sound of the career mode, something to make the sim more immersive
