Route editing with latest update - Warning

A general heads up that there "may be" a big problem with the latest update and editing a routes track or related track objects.
Make sure you have a backup before you try it as it may crash on saving and subsequent attempts to load the route.
If it does occur please send the dump file and details to
support@railsimulator.com asap so it can get fixed.
To get the route back you may have to load a re install a backup.

If there is any risk of this happening shouldn't RW put out a warning and/or pull the patch? Not everybody is going to see your post and trashing people's routes is going to lose them friends very quickly.

True but seeing it was found late last night when they are closed makes that a little difficult. RSC sure need to fix it fast that is for sure.

Sniper has found a workaround to save the route in-case you don't have a backup.
If you don't have a recent backup, first thing to do is scan thru the files and see if you find one that's zero bytes. I trashed my route before seeing John's warning and got the same thing, but rather than restoring yesterday's backup I started deleting folders and attempting to reload - it loaded with everything but the scenery folder, so I restored that and searched, found one 0 byte bin file and deleted that, everything else was okay and it loaded. Left a gap in the scenery so I copied just that one file from the backup, too lazy to re-scenic that tile.

Hi,
RS.com will be investigating the dmp files this morning.
I'll report back when we have a clear view of why this is happening.

Hi
This begs the question,"who tests these updates"
Its a shame RS.COM are so insular,if they engaged the community to help with updates /testing, Etc these errors would not happen,or be less frequent at least.
Almost every product they release has errors, that should never have got past the testing stage.
Thanks for the warning, although there should have been an official RS statement by now.
Regards
Kevin

This last night, my route (in which I'm now working) crashes after saving.
Fortunately I have a backup and don’t lost my work.
But also I have found another problem (which I don’t have found before the latest update):
On the areas around some decals placed in my route, appear geometrical forms drawn on the ground.
I make a test placing decals in another route, and the geometrical forms also appear.
Could be it due to the update?

I feel it would also make sense to release any updates at the beginning of the working week not at the end.

Now that makes loads of sense, if there are any problems after any updates, then RSC, have a few clear days to attempt to fix them, rather than possibly leaving users in the dead zone over the weekend.

I also back it up on Thursday Although i have just backed it up again in expectation that the next update, possibly later today, might make matters worse. I then have a choice of how far back to go.
The only problem i have at the moment is not being able to run the scenario "Delivery Day". Even the annoying Proc has gone from exiting editing.

As daft as it sounds if RSC can make such a big mistake then they should stay in the office till its fixed, simple as!
