Did he say what his graphics card is he's running? i cant see in any post a FULL SYSTEM SPEC? only a decent GCard combined with processor/ram will give good frames.

Well it looks like I have to sell my 4890 and go back to Nvidia. I tested Hawk and on max settings I was getting 135fps and a average of 50 so its not the card.

I was wondering the same thing. How a GTX 275 is going to outperform an ATI 4890 with RailWorks is beyond me. With Nvidia’s “clamp” option under “Negative LOD bias” you can get rid of the shimmering textures better then what you get from ATI but the 4890 should outperform the GTX 275, unless it was a botched install.

My 9500 out performed 4890 and GTX 275. I now have installed Windows 7 64 bit and seen a much better performance. getting around 60fps. I think theres a bottleneck somewhere going to change motherboard and Ram next

If an ATI 9500 was out performing a 4890 and GTX 275 in your machine I’d say you’ve got some serious issues going on there.

What are the rest of the specs on the machine and how exactly did you go from Nvidia to ATI and back again (install procedure)?

Thanks John, I missed that, but if he was getting better performance from an Nvidia 9500GT I come to the same conclusion, something is not right there.

It’s not the best motherboard out there but the Intel 945 chipset is certainly not going to cripple a Core 2 CPU or any GPU that much either.

The 4890 or the GTX 275 without a doubt should be an improvement over the 9500GT even with this motherboard.
