RailWorks - localization
Today I saw this: http://uktrainsim.com/filelib-info.php? ... leid=21940
If RailWorks can be translated in Chinese, can it also be translated in Croatian? I saw that there was language folder with files in several languages. How to edit the *.lan files?
Regards
Vlado

Re: RailWorks - localization
I vaguely remember that you just set the language in some wrapper file. Don't ask me where this would be, you need to search for "German" here for a while. I guess iceman did it. But don't be surprised to find no translation there. Sure you understand that anyway and want to create one.
The .lan files will certainly become XML if you apply serz.exe on them. If this programme complains, rename to something with extension .bin, then it usually works.

The problem is not to redirected to *.lan file properly, (one line of WrapperSettings.xml file) but how to make the content of *.lan file. German *.lan file already exists, but Croatian doesn't.

I looked at it in detail, and I guess only RSC can help you here. Clearly, you could just copy any other language file and name it Croatian.lan. But how would you edit it? serz.exe refuses to convert it. A hex editor shows nothing useful. So, without help from RSC, you will get nowhere. Just send them an email telling them about your plans.

Re: RailWorks - localization
Bit of a worry that among the included language files are Australian, Esperanto and Gibberish

Re: RailWorks - localization
Maybe the guy with the irregular usage of KRS/RW had his fingers in it.
I wanted to know about it, too, but like I said, could not open it.
You might be able to set the language to Gibberish and see what you get in the game. But I did not have time to do that.

We have our own plans for localisation.
More about this in due course.
Sorry Valdo, but your email was way down the list of mails to respond to.

Just took a look myself. File format seems pretty simple, I'll see if I can work out what's what just for the sake of it really.AndiS wrote:I looked at it in detail, and I guess only RSC can help you here. Heh...

I have no intention of releasing this though, as it has been stated already there are plans for localisation.

Re: RailWorks - localization
OK, a lot of good things about localization occurred in the meantime. My first attempt seems to be OK, although I will need help of someone who speaks English better
:

But... My first attempt to make something specifically did not go well. So:

After that nothing hapened. Then I tried to enter the data manually:

And then the message has occurred as shown below:

What did I do wrong? Maybe I missed something! Thanks in advance
