8F download

Hi all!

I downloaded the new 8F loco and when I was running a scenario I noticed that the sound track was of two locos and when the regulator was completely shut the sound track was of a loco still pulling. I found this completely unacceptable. Has any one else experienced the same or is it me?

Was there two locos working, or was there just the one 8F?

Just because if there were two 8F locos doubleheading then this is default as it is a bug within RS/RW that has not yet been solved. This happens with any loco wheather it be two steam locos, two diesels or one steam one diesel. I think this will be addressed soon in the next update or two.

It could be worse afterall! and some times this would be realistic in preserved routes as with double headers only one loco usually does the work anyhow

Bit extreme a reaction, dontchathink? I mean, it ain't perfect and there's a few things that need addressing and what-not, but I don't feel violated and distressed as per a robbery...

All levity aside, Kirk explained things quite well in his reply and I'd echo his remarks; double-heading sound effects are broken for player-controlled trains. Check out an AI-controlled HST service as it whooshes by; SFX from both power cars, lovely. Do the same with a player-controlled HST and it appears you're hauling a dead power car... :s

The 8F I had the trouble with was single headed on the S&D. After I posted I ran a scenario on the ECML and it was fine. Over reacting? No! What's the point of being an actor if you can't embellish.

The scenario I had the problem with on the S&D was the "End of an era" I will run it again later, it might have been just a one off. The ECML "Cathedral Special" was fine.

Change of subject, I downloaded two trains from Just Trains, a class 60 and a voyager. I saved both onto my hard disc but when I tried to open them I got an error message to say that the files were corrupt and could not be unpacked. Have any of you chaps had anything similar or do you know what to do?

Can't remember if you have to before you install them but have you installed the licence?
Have you installed the RW version and not the KRS version?

The info said the downloads were compatible with RW, I can't get as far as installing, I have looked in Just Trains FAQs and they say there if problems arise with installing to contact them. I have sent an e-mail to them but I will have to wait untill next week for a reply.

Just tried this one, Daffers and can't replicate the anomaly you described. Granted, I didn't run the scenario through to its conclusion, but long enough to establish that when I closed the regulator in the 8F, the 5MT shut up, also. In fact, I was struck by how well-behaved the double-headed sounds were, albeit with the Black 5's exhaust sound swamping the 8F's.

EDIT: It occurs to me that RS.com fixed the AI chuffing in the most recent patch, d'oh...

Only ever had one problem with a JT download and that was a refusal for the online registration to behave for my Voyager, but that was resolved through use of the 'manual' registration process instead. What you're describing sounds like a fundamental failure of the files. Odd that it should happen on both file sets; might be something to do with anti-virus software... Dunno. If you're lucky, Simon from JT might be around and able to assist, otherwise, it may well have to wait until JT are back in the office on Monday.
