Lovely sounds, been thrashing about with that lovely noise a lot the today. Top work. Sounds identical to how I remember them.
Wales & Borders(BR) V3.1 status.
Re-released for RW. Hopefully some of you will get it to work this time.

So that's what that racket in the distance was!Wikkus wrote:Richard...

btw, thanks!
I'm now thoroughly annoying anyone in the general vicinity with mucho whistling and thrashage of the 16SVT variety!
Listen hard and you can probably hear it from your house, lol.
It's so good -- better even than the superb 37 and 47 sounds -- that the poor 8F has not even turned a wheel yet as I find excuse after excuse to substitute a 'Whistler' for, well, pretty much anything, anywhere!
btw, nice workaround for the weird signalling problem in your supplied scenario; will be trying that myself...
Cheers, Rik.

No, I won't endorse this. If you did not have the facilities to do sounds you could have made this clear in the first place. Your intentions are subject to interpretation. But what may be apparently clear is that you never intended to do a Gold version.kingsgate wrote:Count these as the official soundset, fully endorsed by us at DT. We've no facilities to do sounds, and with the great work that Richard does, we've no need to either! Funny you should mention the wipers, chaps, I'll have a look into them. I'll see about headcodes, too...

You could have contracted out the sounds. This was your choice. Instead, we are expected to complete the product through another provider.
This is not a decision made in very good spirit.
The correct solution would have been to complete the cab, and contract out the sounds to another supplier. You should have taken the responsibility to carry out your promises. The cab contract could have been a modification of someone else's work.
This kind of behaviour is not exactly acceptable, and I will question its legality. Cartels are not acceptable by law, and I am seriously considering the situation here.

Steady there, you now have top notch sounds to go with an excellent Class 40 model, plus a very passable cab from the Class 37. For sure DT's product plans have been a little erratic but that's understandable; I imagine they rely on enthusiastic part-timers and do not have the dedicated resources of say an RS.com.
A lot of us are eagerly awaiting other stuff from the DT pipeline; I can't see that gilding the Class 40 lily should be their priority.

The DT class 40 is excellent. The AP sounds are excellent.longbow wrote:Steady there, you now have top notch sounds to go with an excellent Class 40 model, plus a very passable cab from the Class 37. Unfortunately you are wrong to state that I now have top notch sounds. The only way to get top notch sounds is to pay further money to another provider.
The class 37 cab is passable as a class 40 cab.
The point is, if you wish to sell your efforts, you should accept the legal ramifications that go with it. If you cannot accept this responsibility, then release it for free.
Certain comments have left me feeling that I bought a product on a false premise. What would OFT think about this situation?

Re: Class 40 Sound Pack from The Armstrong Powerhouse
im kind of with paulz here. In your product description it says a upgrade to Gold edition with Cab and sounds. Well it costs another fiver for the sounds so how much would the cabview cost? Im not that keen on having a complete add on with two different suppliers. I think Paulz you are over reacting abit though thinking about going to the OFT

Cartels? Paulz6, I think you're under a misapprehension. Point out exactly where I said the Gold Version wasn't coming, please. You can't. I didn't. I did endorse these sounds, true enough. I did say they could be counted as official, again, true. What I didn't say was that we weren't going to do our own. I said we had no facilities to do sounds, and jokingly commented that we've no need to do them, with Richard's work. However, at no point did I say we wouldn't do our own. Go ahead, bring legal proceedings, it'll cost you a lot of time, and a lot of money, and you'll not get anywhere. We ARE doing a gold version, when WE decide to do it. WE WILL provide our own sounds, and everything else we said we would do.
Richard, I'm very sorry that this nonsense has appeared in your thread. Paulz6, if you want to discuss this with me, PM or email.

Well I like both the sounds and the engine - who cares where each part came from. Well done to both parties.

Re: Class 40 Sound Pack from The Armstrong Powerhouse
Well I'll admit to wording things a bit aggressively, but at no point did I say I intended to bring legal proceedings. Neither did I say there was a cartel in operation, I just wanted people to think about things.
I am just very surprised that DT and AP didn't work together on this one [to produce the gold version]. During an earlier discussions about micro payware I said I supported it if it reduced the overall cost to the consumer by not have to buy many different versions of the same thing.
Kingsgate, I am sorry I misinterpreted your joke as an intention not to complete the gold version.
Richard, all your sounds sets seem very well produced and certainly sound a lot better than those provided with the default products.

Re: Class 40 Sound Pack from The Armstrong Powerhouse
Sorry to 'bump' this thread, but was there a general problem found with the D306 scenario in the end?
Only, my hd just thrashes on and on for minutes and then my pc locks-up when I try to load it, which is a pity.
I am using W7, so have ALchemy installed and running, but disabling it made no difference...
Anyone..?
TIA.

...and you can all safely ignore that, as I have found that installing the needed stock AFTER the scenario doesn't work!
All OK now, thanks...
