Hi yesguitar,

Are you getting something like this?

http://wwwnew.atomic-album.com/showPic. ... Image3.jpg

If so, Up the 'Object Texture' to High from Medium found in the RW 'Graphical Detail' screen.

A few of us fell foul of this when Paul (Sly) released the 8F for RS, luckily he also came up with the answer.

I am a little miffed, however, at the missing texture warnings down both sides of the loco frame. I installed the loco in the usual way (i've installed plenty of things into RW) so i'm at a bit of a loss, especially as no one else has reported this.
Hi yesguitar.

I thought i was the only one with this problem but i too have missing texture.
It runs down both sides and affects the upper running gear and foot plate.
I have reported it to DT and am awaiting a solution.
My Object Texture is already on max.

In addition to this RailWorks Package Manager is reporting, in red, that there are two missing Assets.

1. Gizmo noaplla.TgPcDx
2. Smoke.TgPcDx

Both are in the correct folder.

I agree that this is a lovely loco and I'm pleased with my purchase. It was a nice surprise to see and download last night!

As far as the dark textures are concerned I was generally not happy with the default settings of RW so I made them brighter (there is a button to do this now on the default screen) to my satisfaction. I don't therefore think the model is too dark for my settings.

Interesting, my running gear and footplate are fine and i'm receiving no warnings from the Package Manager.
It's only the frame sides, the buffer beam and the top of the frame for example are both unaffected.
It looks a little like someone has come along and hooked a loco length yellow and black sign saying 'Missing Texture' to each side of the engine.

My RW settings are all on high and having installed the loco three times with same result I can only assume that the texture somehow isn't in the file?
I glad i'm not the only one as I was starting to think that my mind had begun to unravel.
I'm sure there exists a simple enough solution. Though the fact that people are experiencing different issues is certainly odd.

Cheers

We've had a lot of problems with the packager, it seems to miss various things. We test, but on occasion it just throws a wobbly and leaves things out when the final package is made. Drives us all to distraction, but I'm sure a fix from the developers is due soon.

As regards the safety valves. I've already reported this issue to RSDL. If you notice, the auto fireman has absolutely no finesse, just fires until the valves lift, and then when the valves close, does it again, regardless of train weight, speed, grade etc etc. Any downhill scenario is a nightmare for me as there's nothing I can do to stop the constant hissing from the valves, smothering all other sounds. I do hope they fix it soon, or I'll have to consider replacing the safety valve hiss with a silent file, just to give my eardrums a rest! Unfortunately, as it's an RSDL issue, there's not much we can do. We'll tweak the physics some more, see if that helps, but we certainly can't eliminate it. Now might be a good time to mail the bods at RSDL, hopefully if enough people raise the issue, it'll get more attention.

Yes, the loco is dark, but that's the correct livery. Black locos are black, not brown like the default ones. If you really do feel very strongly about it, modding the files is very easy to do.

Thanks for replying, although I feel there is a difference with the 2P compared with other 'add-on' and 'default' loco's, in that the 'hiss' sound is constant unlike the others that have 'no hiss' sound while the Steam Pressure is increasing up to the Safety Valve 'lift' value. It doesn't matter whether the Steam pressure is 'decreasing' or 'increasing' on the 2P the 'hiss' is always there.

I'm sure you'll have a look and sort it out for us .

That much we can and will sort, very shortly. Sadly, the valves lifting every five minutes we can't solve. But if that's not an issue to you, then the fix will sort the issues.

Hi again,
Sadly, the valves lifting every five minutes we can't solve.
No problem, I can live with that until RW can get something sorted out (I won't hold my breath though).
But if that's not an issue to you, then the fix will sort the issues
That's great news just what I wanted to hear  , thanks a lot.

Just like to say a few things about the 2p loco.

out of all the add ons ive bought for RS/RW, Digital tractions have always been the best value for money. £3.50 for a loco and 3 scenarios is Very fair, and it looks stunning by the way, I know there are some issues with it, but hey for the price youve charged theres no way im complaining. unlike other add ons, DT have kept the price in contrast with the amount of stuff you get with the pack itself.

I hope DT make more add ons VERY soon, because this is the way I like it, uh ha uh ha :P

Cheap sells better than expensive, we find. In the long run, we'll make just as much like this, which suits us just fine.

Absolutely! And to me, it looks sufficiently dark and weather-beaten :D

Nice one, chaps, downloading right now :D

As others have intimated, maybe we can twist your collective arms to whip-up some blood 'n' custard repaints of the Mk1s...? ;)

Cheers, Rik.

Hi.

Just a message to let those know who are having a texture problem with the 2p that DT have placed a patch on their site.
I have installed it and all seems ok.

Thanks Clive. Downloaded and working OK now.

Has anyone noticed the interesting mistake in the manual? For the Pines Express nameboard you need a 'p'. If you enter 'P', you get the Master Cutler nameboard. :D

I also get a constant steam hiss which does not correspond to the valves lifting.

The auto fireman is pretty incompetent but then he doesn't know the road and thus has no ability to anticipate the demand on the boiler, which is essential to keeping thing at the right temperature and pressure and hence curbing the safety valves. With a bit of practice the manual fireman (ie you) can do a much better job, and this adds greatly to the driving experience.
