Re: What do you want?
It doesnt matter where but we need other major railway city routes..
And I am biased fior the North West.. So anyhting involving Preston, Manchester or Leeds would suit me..
Financially if someone released a major prototype US route I think they would not only be on to a winner, they could convert a huge market as well

Re: What do you want?
Pre-WWI, or even pre-1900, locomotives, stock, terrain and routes, would it be in UK, USA, Europe or wherever.
I understand that these are not the easiest things to implement. It is hard to get accurate specifications, reference pictures and maps.
Recording real sounds will in most cases be totally impossible as there is no working engines to be found. You should feel lucky to find any non-working engine or stock at all.
Still I would like to see these older trains. I would try to implement them myself if I only had required skills, experience and time. Maybe someday.
Cheers, Markku

Re: What do you want?
Better tools to build scenarios, routes etc.
Better documentation of model building, nice that everyone over at RS can play with 3D Studio. But they recommended 3d Canvas and don't have a single tutorial on it. If your going to make tutorials, make it for a package that’s within most peoples means to purchase please.
Better documentation of the programming side too. I'm talking about file structure and the Serz file format. What a scenario file should look like, that kind of thing. There is a mountain of improvements that could be made that could help with things like scenario building. Stuff like this should not have to be reverse engineered; one of the major points of XML is that it is easy to manipulate in a program and easy to read for a human. Knowing about the file structures could lead to utilities that make understanding why something has broken easier fix. That HAS to be a good thing. And ultimately, it will lead to a bigger take up of people willing to invest the time to produce content for RW. Making a game is hard, but making good utilities to modify a game is harder. Why not tap the talent that’s available and document some of the workings of RW?
Better tutorials as well, the videos RS released were OK, but we need to see things from beginning to end, what problems can occur and how to fix them please.
Sorry if I come across as a bit “ranty” it’s not that I hate RW, far from it. I really think it has potential and it’s the lack of working, or at least easy to understand tools that’s choking development in my opinion. RS could do wonders with letting people understand what their files do and the structure within them. After all, XML stands for Extensible Mark-up Language.

See, another who agrees we need 1st gen DMUs that can growl, grumble, smoke and fart from town to town, always making a racket disproportionate to their speed
At Quainton? I irreparably damaged my lower spine there almost 30 years ago whilst laying track, although I never realised it at the time. Four blokes and one teenager (the latter being me) lifting 110lb rail, hoiking reclaimed sleepers and screwing down chairs for much of the summer holidays, all by hand, no power tools.i worked on several of these locos![]()

Kipping in an unrestored Mk1 coach at night and drinking scrumpy with some bloke named Bob and his mate Dave for much of the day (Health & Safety? What's that? lol). Cooking our food and talking . in a plate-layers hut in the yard, nicking a few lumps of loco coal for the pot-belly stove to warm over our tea -- packet mix "lobster thermidor" in a tin mug and chunks of crusty bread anointed with engine oil, coal dust and rust. Hardest work I ever did and for . all except the reward of seeing trains run.
Rik.
Re: What do you want?
More UK stuff I'm afraid.....
A track pack with some nice 3D concrete sleepers
I'll second the buildings pack mentioned earlier, some nice large modern buildings like a shopping centre, a football stadium or a multi-storey car park would be nice
Walls & Bridges, some more abutments, brick arch style and girder patterns especially
Rolling stock-wise ;
First generation DMUs (
)
A Class 91 & Mk IVs
Pre-nationalisation era main line coaching stock, Gresley teak maybe?

Re: What do you want?
Featurewise I want:
-More viewpoints in cab so one can go to transformer room in locomotive to switch/check systems
-Papers that show your current timetable in cabin(can be done already with multifunction display?)
-Superelevation
-Multiplayer
-More API functions for LUA developers
What I don't want:
-Concentration on some matter that is irrelevant for experience of driving trains
-Anything related to model railways/toys
-Putting huge effort on making something that is intended to be unprototypical from the beginning.

Re: What do you want?
Hello,
So from what I read, everyone wants something different...
I'd like to see more interactive scenery, coal towers etc
Thanks
Bill

Re: What do you want?
Hi,
I'd like to see steam/diesel crossover period Southern Region route because that was my teenage years. Also, a european route based on Brussels or a North American/Canadian route that wasn't desert.
Also after buying NWC I would prefer to regress to 2D cabs.
Regards
Colin

Re: What do you want?
I think it would be great to have some first or 2nd gen emu's.
Like the 312, 315, 317, 321 etc
Whilst all areas are shy of stock EMU's are more of a gaping hole.
Just my 2p's worth
Kind regards
Jamie

I'll second that, Jamie with the rider that if there's to be a 312 then there must be a 310, alsojimessex wrote:I think it would be great to have some first or 2nd gen emu's.

Re: What do you want?
hi Wikkus
some bloke named Bob i think i know who ur on about lol. shame about doing damage to ur lower spine. cant wait till we get the DMU running again
but before we do that we need to do some internal work and change the chemicals used in the fire suppresion system ( it also needs a good coat of paint
) then we can make all the noise we want lol

Hi Plewsy2105 - please post using normal English on the forums, not "text-speak" - it's annoying to some, not understandable by others, and therefore contrary to forum rules.
