Darren/Rik,

Success. I completely deleted Railworks and started with a clean install, both your scenarios work beautifully now Darren. Rik, when I began the process you outlined it quickly became obvious something was amiss, hence the fresh install.

Thank you both for your support

kind regards

Hey, you're most welcome, Peter; drastic solution, but so long as you're where you need to be :)

I can heartily recommend backing up your whole RW installation as insurance against unexpected things occurring. As I posted elsewhere, I back-up (plain Windows copy) a fresh, unadulterated installation AND I also keep a copy of incremental revisions of my "live" game, i.e. when I add content, whether it's a piece of rolling stock, a sound pack or even a whole route, I copy the working version to an otherwise empty (except for a swapfile) 150GB drive.

That way, if it all goes pear-shaped, I don't have to wait for a monster download to get back up and running again.

Cheers, Rik.

Glad to see you got it working okay Peter.

Just thought I would let you guys know that there is another scenario on the way very soon called "Millerhill Empties". All you need to know is below.

Image

Description

The year is 1992 and the Tories are in power. There are rumours starting to emerge from the capital suggesting that there are plans to privatise the railway system. Your job today is to take a Drax to Millerhill service consisting of a BR Blue Class 37 with a rake of empty HAA hoppers. Earlier this morning, the booked Class 47 failed resulting in the replacement Class 37 and you will drive the portion from York to Tyne Yard. Enjoy the surrounding traffic, nobody has any idea if the sight of Intercity or BR Blue will remain or for how long.

Briefing

Take a Class 37 with empty HAA hoppers from York to Tyne Yard. Your first port of call will be the middle road of York station in order to pick up a diesel fitter who is needed at Tyne Yard to cover sickness. It is a normal busy morning and there will be plenty of traffic about don't expect too much of a smooth ride along the way. The maximum allowed speed of this train is 60mph, please do not exceed this to enjoy the scenario at maximum effect.

That's excellent news, I love "busy" scenarios. I liked the briefing, very inspiring.

{double-takes}

That's uncanny -- I've spent the last couple of evenings (when not playing your last two scenarios) knocking together my first scenario which was... {drumroll}... York to Tyne Yard! Hehe.

Mine's nowhere near done, mind ;p

Looks and sounds like another cracker, Darren. Think I'll be swapping that blue Tractor for one of David's recent Railfreight reskins though. :P

How many HAAs are on the train?

17 HAA's on the train mate. I will probably start using reskins in the future mate but am trying to get a few done with just what comes with the game in order to appeal to "new customers" as much as us.

Completely understand that. The beauty with default stock is that it's open to everyone, and the more experienced users can be a bit more adventurous. :D

Using the odd reskin here and there though could help to encourage the newer users to venture into the UKTS library and try what's on offer.

I'm sure you'll find the right balance.

Sorry for the delay on this new one guys, a couple of unforeseen issues have arisen namely my consist arriving far to early at Northallerton to interact with other traffic. On trying to fix it, certain consists start and then stop a couple of miles down the line. I shall sort it though and have it ready soon.

I have the same problem a lot of the time on long routes..

Im wondering if you can force the user to stick to a speed by throwing in a few temporary speed restrictions to make sure they stick to what you had in mind.. Of course you can never account for someone doing handbrake starts and braking all the speed limits though..

To be honest mate, I am just going to leave the instruction as it is, stick to 60mph. If people don't stick to it and reduce the enjoyment of the scenario, I suppose it's their fault at the end of the day.
