It's an illuminating topic, we'll leave it a little longer...until, at least, we see the light at the end of the tunnel. :x

For those interested this video shows very little light projected,if fact i'm sure some guy with a light is just shining to give the illusion, took from the fictionalized version of the Great Train Robbery,
5 stars worth a watch,note 30 seconds in to the video,enjoy

But on the other hand...

The Railworks headlight light issue really depends on which part of the world you live in.
Not so much of a problem in the UK, but a big problem in the USA.

Thank's for the video Kevin, that sounds like a nice loco :D ,I doubt if we will get a tailored projected light one for the US and one for the UK,maybe a compromise and something in between.
Hopefully we can MOD light parameters for distance/intensity that would suit both parties :D

That would be ideal. And in the lineside view, the headlights should appear in the distance as a big ball of light that obscures the train until it is very close.

The camera lens exaggerates the effect, but it looks similar with the naked eye.
My route is set in 1960s UK, so I'm actually happy with the lighting set up as it stands.
