I personally will not install Railworks unless this is the case?

If customers do not accept the t&Cs then they go without?
Well all I can say there is, if there were no customers prepared to accept the T&Cs then the company would cease trading.

Mass action would work, if it could be organised. Unfortunately there are many people who just accept the situation, or have no understanding of what the T&C's could really mean in unfortunate situations. Some people seem to love steam as much as they do detention without trial. I think a lot of people who are vocal against steam have reluctantly accepted it and ordered RW, so you may be one of the few going without.

Ps I think you may find that those who ordered the DVD, were doing so on the basis it was steam free
as per Paul Jacksons statement.

For those that do purchase the steaming DVD, the steam account setup requires no more than a valid e-mail address. The T&C conditions apply.

The U-turn on the steam free DVD is disappointing, but there was never any guarantee that updates would have been provided. Potentially, a steam free DVD could have become of limited use over time.

I can honestly say, having been a user of Steam for many years and having read the Ts & Cs that there is nothing that concerns me so much as to stop me wanting to play games that I enjoy.

In actual fact, if I consider how many times I've re-installed my PC over those years and the amount of time I've saved by getting back a dozen or so games just by installing the Steam client itself, then I'd say it was a positive bonus.

The convenience of it far outweighs any misgivings IMHO.

Rail Simulator worked perfectly fine without steam, we still received updates and new content.
The world didn't end because we didn't have steam.
Now I am perfectly aware that if I stay with my Rail Simulator that is it... no more new locos etc but it something I am prepared to do.

Not trying to say the situation, Steam or I are right. That's up to the individual to decide. Just a statement of my own on-going experience of Steam.

I've been following this thread with interest. While I don't have any problem in principle with using Steam to validate the sim I was hoping that I would be able to install Railworks from DVD on to 2 PCs, one which is connected to the internet and one which has no internet connection (or is anywhere near an internet connection) and updating the second when needed by transferring files from the main installation. If this is not going to be possible it looks like Railworks may be a non starter for me.

I have no argument at all with those who like steam and use it
It is entirely up to them.
But for those that prefer to use their simulator via a DVD there is no need for it.
We are not sheep...We are customers and it is up to us whether or not we buy a product?
I hope there is a compromise and that Paul Jackson realises that some customers expect more.

I have a feeling that this (installation of the Program on more than one PC at a time) would go against the EULA for most software, let alone RW or Steam.

If you're refering to the statement that I quoted in my earlier post in this thread then please get the facts right. It is not a statement by the RS.com CEO Paul Jackson but a statement over 2 months old by Tim Gatland who was the CEO of RSDL at the time.
