I dont know, why you get this exactly error, but i got many others just like that, when i used Vista. Mostly because i forgot to run it as administrator, which most programs under Vista has to.
Clicking on a rpk file in RS gave the same error under Vista 64 bit, if i didn't use admin rights. Not to mention that vista cant figure out its own file system, when using the 64 bit version.

My guess is, that 99,9% of people who has the problem with railsimulatorproc.exe is using Vista.

If you know Vista, you'll have no problems.
If have the Ultimate version.
It's too slow compared with XP Pro and Windows 7 RC.
Vista is secure but most people didn't like the security-system...
They like more Windows as "click click click".... without reading what they clicking.

Bill Gates?
He is the first businessman I know who is rich and honest....
(joke of the day he)

(Sorry to be OT.)

From the number of posts in this thread it seems this error is a major PITA for a lot of people. Hopefully an update is released soon to address that. Now on what I know about the new RW launcher:

It is a .NET application developed in SharpDevelop (same thing I use to make KRStool2), and is a separate progra from GameManager.dll (RW game itself). If the crash is happening before gamemanager loads, then it's likely the fault of this app rather than the game. Good news is for those who only get this far, you are not being blocked because the game doesn't like the hardware but because the loader is buggy. Not that it helps much given it still doesn't load.

Anyway the fix will likely involve tweaking settings to appease the loader. For those experiencing the error you could try getting ProcessExplorerXP to see what the loader tries to do before it bombs. Unfortunately I don't have a working PC nor one that has the error so I can't do any research on this myself.

Cheers,

jkxx

I DO know my Vista, and that's why I am so mad not getting that :bad-words: :bad-words: Railworks working...

Many other applications or games had problems with the vista security features, but since yesterday, I could solve them all by tuning the compatibility mode.

very frustrating

Ok, status here.

disabled UAC
disabled DEP
dsiabled antivirus

Vista is 64bit, grpahics is nvidia 9800GT

no luck, still same error, with no explanation whatsoever.

Responding to some off-topic comments: I do not care in the least whose fault it is, vista or rw.

All I know is that since I got Vista this is the first program that I try to install that does not work.

It most likely is some incompatibility with some drivers.

Wasted too much time on it already.

Will give RW a chance to help me out. If not, will just take my money back and keep waiting for something else.

Marco.

Today my Sunday was a different day of all others, and was as follows:

1 - Formatting my PC, install Windows XP and all drivers.
Install Steam and over 4 GB of Downloads.
Success, I got Preimira select the line and the error message appears after 10 minutes, has been a breakthrough .....

2 - Format my PC Install Windows 7 Beta RC 7100, install the drivers and Steam (4 GB More Downloads).

Success finally is possible to play, but for another 25 minutes.

Today i have
4GB +4 GB +4 GB (Instal XP + 4 GB) + (Install Windows 7 + 4 GB)

I just have to say.

Time is precious
Downloads cost money
Microsoft are the best , by the way i work all days with Mac Ox
RailWorks not work.
Also someone should be seeing the bank account increasing, and that I certainly am not, much less our friend Bill.

I hope you can solve these problems for the community and RW ultimately everything has to be a good start that soon stumbled upon departure ....

I will continue to seek the best forum, this forum is clear that, just change the subject.

Auran I return.

Bye, Bye, RailWorks.

I get to the logo screen where Railworks and partners logos are displayed and then my computer freezes. Reset button is the only way out. I have Vista 64-bit, I wonder if this is the same problem that you guys are having or something different. I have been trying to sort it out since friday but nothing seems to help.

And welcome to you and your route. Where can i download it ? :D

I thought, that you had problems with RW, and then it was RW-Tools ?
Personally i prefer the packagemanager and especially the new one in RW.

p.s. Germans, start using rpk or rwp file, please  :D :D
