This is not usually how Steam gives discounts using promotional codes. Usually you can type in the code when you purchase the game. RS.com have gone down a complicated and unnecessary route.JADsHome wrote:I fear I may have screwed up then as I purchased it first as per RS's instructions and entered the code on the My Games page - funnily enough I've just had a call from Halifax Credit cards querying the purchase - and mine went through at £34.99 so it looks like I shall be emailing / writing to RSDL or Steam to get my money difference back ! Sure I will not have been the only one to make this mistake
Anyway in 3 hours time I'll have the game - NOT impressed with Steam thus far I have to say - should have waited and got the DVD me thinks :bad-words:

Re: Now Available on Steam
I'd imagine there's been a mistake somewhere, as the original instructions were exacty that anyway. I wouldn't deem this method complicated, just a couple more clicks of the mouse really.tomtrain wrote:This is not usually how Steam gives discounts using promotional codes. Re: Now Available on Steam
This is madness. My receipt has already been debited at 34.99.
WHERE ON THEIR WEBSITE does is say to activate it. Thats normally only for DVD/CD Purchases!

Re: Now Available on Steam
Hi,
Must admit it was a little confusing, I ended up with the full price product in my basket. So I deleted it and went back to the Railsim site and followed the instructions and it worked out fine at the cheaper price.

Re: Now Available on Steam
Right, I followed the instructions given by RS.com and Ben. I went to the steam site RS.com told me to, I finished the purchase, went to the games tab and entered the code. And it still charged me full price. I've just checked my account details online and £34.99 has been deducted from my account. How does it work? Does it refund the money to your account after you've entered the code?

The price of changes automatically reducing it to £15 or so. I forget the exact price. The price on the image changed ffrom £34.99. I logged out of my Steam account first.

Re: Now Available on Steam
Make sure that if you already have RailWorks in your basket at full price, that it is removed from the basket and re-added at the discount price.
The value of your investments may go up as well as down.
