connecting real cab instruments

Hi
I have just started out with Railworks 3 and would be interested in connecting external hardware to display things like Speed, brake and AWS information.
In the first instance I would like to find out if this is at all possible and any advice on where I can find additional info or if any additional software/hardware exists already to make this interface possible.
Thanks
Martin

The short answer to the question is that as of today, no you can't, there is no hardware or software that will allow this, and without support from RSC, it won't be possible either.
Unlike for example Microsoft Flight Simulator, RailWorks does not have an API (Application Programming Interface), i.e. an interface that allows external software to read (and modify) simulation parameters, which is what external displays would need. The only way to interact at all with simulation parameters is through LUA scripts and there's no way (without hacks) for a RailWorks LUA script to interface with external software, nor are very many parameters exposed (and those that are are mostly read-only).
Unless somebody within RSC decides this needs to be done, its not likely to happen and there's nothing third party vendors can do to work around it I'm afraid.

Sorry for the little bump, but I would like to say it is possible and that I have been successful in doing it. I will post the code soon when Ive prefected it.
Short Video showing a HST speedo linked up to Railworks.
