Llanberis Lake Rly.. help. testers req.
Got to need a rest from the Bromsgrove burton, so took 2 days off to visit Wales... I have been doing the Lanberis Lake Railway, but hitting snags with the 2'3" track (no point levers work), the rolling stock (hard to get it to highlight to edit) and points changing before the train has passed over (may be because the coaches not indicating on train) I have put in anti derail siding markers trying to get the points to delay changing, seems to work...Help if you can, the route as is so far is at my download site with my other test stuff if you can load it and give it a go ta..

Thanks very much for this, had the pleasure of an afternoon spent on this line in 2009 (before a trip to Dinorwig power station, something that's a 'must do again' ) so I'm delighted to be able to run along it virtually. Will have a proper look at your issues and see if I can offer any assistance over the weekend.
Thanks again,
Gary

First thing....
Laid a little stretch of track and found that manual junctions change when using 'shift-click' in 2d view, it seems that it's just the lever that isn't 'selectable' in 3d view.
installs to '..\Assets\kngtrains\Talyllyn\RailVehicles\Passenger\TRcoaches\Default\TRcoaches\TRcoach_1.bin'
Possibly a factor?

Thay show as being coupled to the loco for me, BUT I ran the scenario through RW Tools before playing to find your location of the coach .bin file is ' ..\Assets\\kngtrains\Talyllyn\RailVehicles\Passenger\TRcoaches\TRcoach_1.bin' butjetgriff wrote:and points changing before the train has passed over (may be because the coaches not indicating on train)

There has been a problem with all my NG stock for some time. I'm afraid health problems have kept me away from updating the files. I'll have to see about trying to get some patch files uploaded.

cheers GP point levers work ok! in 2D (shift click) this of course means no more derailment problems and you can create your own work list as you go! Great news... just got to change them all in route now...
I deleted the 'passenger files' and reinstalled them (there was an extra set installed in the wrong place as you found, but they still will not highlight, a little problem, just means if you put them in a scenario, you can't move them except with a loco movement... but that's what we like doing, I think you could remove them with RWtools..
Kev... not to worry, if it had not been for you we would have had not much options as to what we could achieve with 2'3" guage .. what you have produced is much appreciated by all..
I will convert the route to manual points, redo the coaches and add the rest of the scenery, will not take long it only took 2 days to do what we have,. and half that time was sorting out the problems, that after all were not there...

Kevin, I can only echo
please don't feel under any obligation to produce 'patches'---and I hope you're 'on the mend'.jetgriff wrote:Kev... not to worry, if it had not been for you we would have had not much options as to what we could achieve with 2'3" guage .. what you have produced is much appreciated by all..

OK I have done some investigations.
First thing is that you are using the Rail Simulator based files for both the track and stock. These are not really compatible with railworks in ts latest format ( you can see the ballast is dark on one side and light on the other ).
The problem with the point levers relates to the fact that when you select the track rule and ask the editor to show you the tracks available under that track rule nothing shows up as pickable- in the editor this means that the track rule isn't picking up the right tracks.
This is confirmed by the fact that it isn't placing any point levers as these are defined by the track rule - and also by the fact that main line curves are very large radius if you select the 2'32 track using the select any track option in the editor.
Looking at the track rule there is lots of swapping between capitals and lower case in the naming of things. Railworks is very very very particular about this and directories and files must use exactly the same cases ( NarrowGauge and narrowgauge are not the same directory names for things). When I go in and edit the track rule to reflect the directory names in the kngtrains/Misc_NG folders I can then add sharp radius points that show up the point levers. Basically the whole of this track set needs a careful going through to get consistent names in the tracks and track rules. This isn't a mamouth job but given that the track also has issues ( some of the track ends have no rails ) I am not sure much is to gained from this.
It will be hard to retrospectively edit the route to change all these names without quite a laborious and careful use of an edit of the track.bin file.
As this is a loverly job of a route I am going to suggest that you maybe think about converting to either (a) the tracks that are Railworks compatible from either the project phorum or Tallylyn sets or (b) that I edit the tracks.bin file to use my own tracks and supply you with an updated version.
So far as the stock is concerned you are again using Railsimulator stock that is no longer fully compatible with Railworks2012. I suspect this is especially so in the case of the locos. This is partly why I am trying to release some RW2012 compatible stock at present but the main solution is to purchase the Project Phorum or Talyllyn routes and stock and then apply the patches for 2012 available on here. If you are reluctant to do this then please feel free to bundle any of my stuff in with your route. I can help you with this.
I know this sounds like a blow to what is a rather lovely route but it isn't really. Its all sortable with a bit of time and if there is anything I can do to help then please say.

Thanks Max, take some time to read into your notes (give me time
, anything to make this route better, I just did it to make a change from my Bromsgrove route, its working enough to play 'trains' on for the narrow guage fans (me included). I will just finish off the scenery and get back to my main route. Will get back to you..ta

This has confused me a little, as the point levers do show when laying down a manually operated junction, but are non-selectable to switch the points using the lever.maxtedrw wrote:...This is confirmed by the fact that it isn't placing any point levers...
Re: Llanberis Lake Rly.. help. testers req.
Just uploaded V2 with the points manual....
Re: Llanberis Lake Rly.. help. testers req.
Same with the Railsim loco's Corris 1,2 and Dolgoch plus coaches.., its a job to get them to highlight to edit, the coaches not at all. Kevin is going to look at them in time... the point levers just will not highlight at all so if one is in the middle of running lines, thats where it stays, I tried going under them and 'drawing the circle round' them. But the 2D view and the shift key does the job and you can see your path..gptech wrote:This has confused me a little, as the point levers do show when laying down a manually operated junction, but are non-selectable to switch the points using the lever.maxtedrw wrote:...This is confirmed by the fact that it isn't placing any point levers...
