Preserved Deltic with Headcode Box?

Post by xguerra »

Hello

Does anyone think that a Deltic with a headcode box as well as a lower single light (not sure about the appropriate term)? - like a couple of the preserved deltics, e.g. D9009 Alycidon and D9000 Royal Scots Grey.
I have a 3rd party deltic with a headcode box but no light (or nameplates). Maybe RSC could do an extra deltic pack with variations on lights and headcode boxes.

This is what I mean:

There is one under development by a firm whose mention would result in my post being deleted by the secret police. I'm not sure about that lower light - I don't remember those when they were in service.

I think the light is probaly a 1980s thing. Thats when they started bolting them onto other locomotives anyway.

Many BR locos would have retained headcode boxes into the late 70s, but would all have been rotated to '0000' or the appropriate registration in some cases.

The headlamp is from when they gained mainline certification, the Deltics were withdrawn before headlamps became a standard fitting for diesels locos.

The headlamp as far as my research tells me is a mainline preservation thing.

Another possibility that has just crossed my mind is to apply the headcode or headlamp as a child object.

For example, some of David Hossack's 47 repaints had a headlamp applied as a child object, like this one:

The 47 lamp is a child object and could be added to the deltic if you ask Dave B nicely. As Simon pointed out, the light is required to run on Network Rail. Steam use a separate lamp on the middle iron to comply.

PM me if you need a hand adding it assuming Dave is okay with it.

David has not been on the forums for a long time, not since TS2012 came out I think.

I might email RSC and ask what they think of the idea first...that is if they reply.

I would love a Deltic with a headlamp, it would look more at home in modern scenario's then. I (personally) think that they look out of place in modern scenarios as-is.

Cheers
