I was thinking about buying a raildriver controller please could I have a bit more info about it also I have some questions about it

1 can you cancel the driver vigalince on the class 377 with it

2 does it feature was self test and aws cancel

3 can you open the doors

4 can you turn on the lights and wipers cab light etc

5 can you get outside views with it

I'm sorry I do not have any answers but I know it does not work as well in Railworks 3 as it did in Railworks 2.

Anything you can do with a keyboard you can do with a Raildriver. At the bottom of the unit are a set of 28 programable buttons which work exactly the same as keys on a keyboard.

The obvious incredible advantage is that instead of blindly pressing A & D etc, you get to operate a real handle and you can "see" and "feel" the setting, something you can't do with a keyboard.

AWS is one of my favourite aspects of Raildriver because you can program the big red circular button next to the levers to act as the AWS acknowledge, feels so much better hitting a big red button than Q on the keyboard!

You also get 2 flickable toggle switches to operate the lights and wipers as well as a toggle lever for the horn.

-not sure what you mean but it can cancel AWS and other warnings.

What is the vigilance referred to on the 377?
I have drove my 377's & 375's without any vigilance sounds or associated brake applications from none cancellation.

the driver vigilance is a beeping sound that can be activated by pressing ctrl and numpad enter or shift and numpad enter i can't rember witch but can be cancelled by numpad enter

I took it to be the sound when you first engage the "W" or "S" keys.
I could be wrong!

I believe that is the AWS self-test, not the vigilance system.

Fair enough, but that's how it is in the real world for a train driver in Britain where safety systems are currently a hodge podge of many different systems which each only solve one particular issue and have only a small amount of integration.

Bit harsh having a pop at UK railways on a UK railway forum??

With the amount of trains running every single day in the UK, I'd say the safety record is staggeringly good and certainly not a 'hodge podge of systems' as you say. One station, Clapham Junction, sees 2,000 trains every single day!!!! Not sure there is anywhere in Australia that sees that many services in a year

Not harsh at all and not having a pop either, just pointing out that to continue operating older rolling stock means you have a considerable variety of safety systems installed which all operate more or less independently of each other. That's what happens when you have a large and complex 'classic' network but still want safety and communication systems to be kept up to date, the new gear gets bolted in alongside the older gear rather than having the older stuff ripped out a for brand new integrated electronics suite. It's not like Britain is alone in this respect, we use many of the same systems as used in Britain (either off the shelf or adapted to make them more suitable) plus numerous others which are needed for our more unique circumstances (like operating passing loops in the outback) which can make the continuing use of older locomotives on the national network quite complex issue.

As for 2,000 trains a day, Central Station in Sydney would get pretty close to that on the average weekday and Southern Cross in Melbourne is probably not too far behind (with the added complexity of some tracks being dual-gauge just to make signalling good fun!).

I have received a modified .rw3 file from PI Engineering and it works very well TSX on or off. Hopefully if it it works universally, PI E will issue it on their website.

hello again i have found a not to expensive raildriver but it says compatible with trainz and msts but could this be made before railworks but do all raildrivers work with railworks here it is http://www.gameseek.co.uk/pd/PCwu5wgeqr ... Controller
