TPR Summer Livestreams + Leander

Post by ChrisBarnes »

Hi all

There is going to be 2 TPR livestreams this July, both of which should be very different. The first will be hosted by myself on Friday 20th, time TBC, as I will be demonstrating TPR Leander in its final stages before completion, on the TPR. Hopefully, this demonstration will serve as a tutorial, to both steam enthusiasts and those who wouldn't normally choose to drive steam locomotives in expert mode and manual firing. What started out as a reskin has evolved into something quite abit different; it's certainly not comparable to Pete's mighty 56xx or Meshtool's Austerity in terms of features and scripting, but I believe it's currently unique to drive in its own way... and a big thank you to Edward, Simon, Matt , Tom and everyone who has helped me make it happen. Furthermore, the TPR team would love to see more members helping out with detailing, so I hope that if you've previously been uninterested due to the route's modern image, then we can persuade you with some steam.

The second stream of July will be hosted by Tom on the 30th at approximately 8.00pm, which will be a scenic cab ride (presumably in a diesel or DMU) demonstrating all of the work that has been done since the last TPR livestream. Significantly updated areas and places includes Burley, Harrogate and Knaresborough. Tom and Josh have done some fantastic work on Burley and Harrogate, and Harrogate has gained many more unique assets thanks to Josh's amazing 3D modelling.

We hope you'll be able to join us at at least one of our streams (would be brill if you can make both :D ). Route journeys TBC.

Thanks for you interest
Chris

Looking forward to them Chris.

Not only for seeing what has been done, but for anyone who has not taken part previously, these livestreams are generally a good way for people to interact and have fun. Previous streams have been a really good entertaining laugh with a lot of banter.

Sounds like there's a need for a UKTS IRC channel; more like popping down the pub than the calling someone up that's an IM program.
My posts are my opinion, and should be read as such.

Yes, good point Ruth. I've just finished preparing the scenario, before testing it tomorrow.

So times:

Friday's Livestream will start at 8.00pm. This is when the actual scenario will begin, so it would be best for viewers to come along 5-10 mins beforehand (I'll probably be around on the channel for a quick chat before we begin). The scenario dispatcher estimates that the scenario will take about 1 hour 20 minutes, whether we can do that given the scripting and the fire needing building up, it could take around 1 hour 30 mins or more.

The journey:

Viewers will join me aboard the footplate for the entire journey (not that this limits the entire session to the cab view). We will be departing from the National Railway Museum at 8pm to pick up empty stock at York Station. From there, the journey is very simple: we'll leave York and head straight for Harrogate, where we'll have a quick stop before continuing on towards Leeds. The scenario will terminate when we arrive at Neville Hill Depot. Afterwards, there will be Q&A about the route and Leander, particularly if you didn't see or understand a particular element of its operation, and I'm sure we will have a good chat too.

The route will hopefully be shown in its TSX glory, which will slow down Fps in areas such as Leeds but I think its definately worth it. All being well it wont SBHH under the load of the route, AI and TSX, although this will all be put to the test before the public stream so that I can decide whether I need to turn TSX off. Shouldn't need to though, I've done private streams to friends and members of the TPR team with the same conditions and it ran without fault, so, fingers crossed! If I remember to save as we go along, a SBHH shouldn't be a major problem other than being slightly embarrassing.

It should be a fun evening and I hope everyone will enjoy it.

Just to remind everyone who'd like to watch, the scenario will start at 8pm, so to ensure you don't miss anything I would arrive a few minutes before.

I'll be there, it's always a good laugh. Although I will have to mix between football and watching the stream.

Looked Fantastic Chris.

Loving the features and the smoke effects for the locomotive as well.
Also TPR looks better all the time.
