I'm thinking about buying this route in the current sale, but am unsure about its heritage so hope that someone could clarify a few points so that I can make that decision.

I assume that this is the same product as that sold by Aerosoft but am confused by the pre-release information that the latter provided. In that info, it appeared that there would be some new stock included with the route, particularly double decked coaches of some type. Anyway, on the Aerosoft website there is a fairly extensive list of included stock, though some is I believe AI only. Yet, the Steam product only says that some stock from Virtual Railroads is included.

I doubt whether there are many users who have actually bought both of these products, but I hope that someone may be able to clarify whether the two products are actually the same, and, in particular, whether the list of included stock is the same in both products.

They are one and the same, it is just published through two channels much like Bristol-Exeter is available from both Steam and Just Trains. The route is the same and the same VR rolling stock is included.

OK, many thanks. As I said, that was my assumption but I needed someone to confirm it before buying ...

I'm struggling to find any 3rd party scenario's for the route, would like to give my ICE1 a good run out - guess I'll do some swapping with RWTools as there is an express service I could use the ICE1 for.

Just awaiting the ICE3 now.....

Definitely picking this route up before the end of the sale. Just waiting to see whether the wheel of fortune brings any further RW reductions

Yep, there are some steep short gradients however they are angular and one is bounced around roller coaster styleee!

Don't forget you guys, these new German layouts now stipulate that you have Windows 64 bit, 8 GB RAM, as minimum specs on your computers/laptops, a few have managed to tweak their PC's to accommodate, but, I personally cannot obtain anything at present as I'm still on XP 32 bit until I update to a more modern machine, don't spend your money if you can't run the routes on your equipment.

I think you'll find that the Cologne PC requirements were originally put together to be deliberately pessimistic, possibly as a result of the Woodhead experience where the stated PC requirements were unintentionally optimistic (i.e. unchanged).

I honestly think that the Woodhead experience was not received that badly. It could have been better, but it was not a bad job. Apart from mass planting in the Wharncliffe wood area that is.

They had put those high requirements because they had probs to run some scenarios .
Probably to much traffic . Apart from the 2 cities certaily not to much assets to render ; the tiles are more empty than full.
At some places the world ends at 200 m from the track .
I use W7 64 bit 4 Gb and can run it without probs , so , 8 Gb is not needed.

I was intressted in buying this route when I saw it on sale, however, when I tryed to look it up on youtube, all I could see was flashing tracks and horrible gradiants..
Is this route realy that bad?
Or is it actually worth buying for someone who mostley spends his time driving in the cab?

Personally I would say for the price it is worth it if you are staying in the cab, better still if you swap out the default models ,where possible, with the payware from VR and the freeware models available from railsim .de. If you have a powerful enough computer, you should look at the freeware Hamburg-Bremen route if you don't already have it.
