Re: Update announcement
So John, new members are not allowed to air their views on those two debates?
Or should we slate them for bumping old threads?

Re: Update announcement
I haven't seen any new members on this thread yet.
I think calling time on the repetitive and boring spleen-venting is the right move. There's always the option to go and get yourself a blog if you want slightly more free speech, but most of those on this thread who should do just that probably wouldn't cope with the added accountability of that compared to a forum.

Re: Update announcement
Don't see what new members have to do with anything? As John said there are umpteen threads on the topic of PC specs and whether it's a "game" or a "simulator" and if anyone has got a pressing opinion they can reply to one of those. Don't think any of this has anything to do with the new technology being unveiled either

Re: Update announcement
hi, ...
If I pursue golf as a hobby I also need proper golf clubs.
Since I do not go play mini golf clubs.
Notebooks and has been since the beginning of the Rail Simulator "is not supported.
I would welcome the next RailWorks as 64bit application and DirectX11.
Future is also going forward and not a back step or standing.

Re: Update announcement
The windows xbox styled gamepad is quite an advanced controller with very fine to fast movements. Certainly could improve my simming compared to pressing keyboard keys and cheap too. I hope they tie in head movement to the left thumb stick as in most driving sims.

Re: Update announcement
Interesting. Judging from that it would seem that at least initially it is going to be limited to scenarios.
Re: Update announcement
All is well there. Looks fine to me. That front end just bit grey but i guess that will develop.
Re: Update announcement
Anyone know if Steam Workshop content has any quality control, or do you just take pot luck that what you download will work?

I was wondering this myself. How are things checked before they are uploaded?

Re: Update announcement
I'd much rather they bothered to add TrackIR support, moving your head to look around the cab would add a whole new level of realism than moving a thumb stick around on a joypad. Speaking of which, I can't say I've ever come across people requesting joypad support but I certainly have seen many asking for TIR support, go figure!Stone75 wrote:I hope they tie in head movement to the left thumb stick as in most driving sims.

Actually I'd rather rsc concentrated on sorting out all the performance issues and fixing some annoying bugs before spending time adding joypad support, imo they have their priorities all wrong.

Re: Update announcement
I love how RSC have pixelated the "Train Simulator" logos and in-game overlay as to not reveal what it will be called. I am 99% sure that says "Train Simulator", and why hide it if it is still going to be TS2012? I can assume that it will be called Train Simulator 2013.
I'm a great spy
Back to the topic though, it seems very interesting. Much more sophisticated than the Steam Workshop that is used on the likes of Portal and Team Fortress 2.

Re: Update announcement
I imagine all these new features we'll be seeing, and maybe even getting, will have been part of the RSC 'road map' for a while--fixing bugs etc is one of those things that would then have to be fitted in. Not making an excuse for them here, I too would like to see more issues resolved a bit quicker, but you have to accept that they have their time-scale and want to stick to it. For what is a relatively small outfit they don't do that badly though on the more pressing fixes, and bear in mind that what you or I may class as a 'bug' may be something trivial to others--the thread at http://forums.uktrainsim.com/viewtopic. ... t=bug+list illustrates that.smartie38 wrote:Actually I'd rather rsc concentrated on sorting out all the performance issues and fixing some annoying bugs before spending time adding joypad support, imo they have their priorities all wrong.

Well there are the rating buttons for a start. If you download stuff with a poor rating then you probably deserve to get stung.AndyUK wrote:Anyone know if Steam Workshop content has any quality control, or do you just take pot luck that what you download will work?
