Update announcement

Post by AntonRail »

Hi all! :D
Dear friends, I am pleased to announce that over the next couple of months we will be showcasing the new technologies we have been working on. We’re going to show you new developments each week over the summer, looking at the different advances we have been making.

Our first announcement will be tomorrow. Each announcement will focus on a different area of the simulation. All I can tell you until then is that I have been playing with some very exciting new technology and I hope you will like the work we have been doing.

Since founding RailSimulator.com my vision has been to constantly take train simulation forward. Continually developing and improving our technology is at the core of that vision. I think over the next few weeks you will see our commitment to that ideal.

Not speculating, just hoping, for naming conventions for scenic items.

For a second there I thought we had timewarped a year before TS2012 release in past September was and we were waiting for these new technologies which would focus on different aspects of the simulator to be previewed in videos/facebook posts...which Paul wouldn't talk much about but kept saying how mind blowing it was..

Daja vu I suppose, won't be holding my breath, unless I see video and screens showing fully working correct anti alias I'm not going to be convince beyond the line of "same old, new colour".

Oh I guess that sounded negative, well then, wow, new technology, I wonder what that is, maybe we'll have new physics for all the different kinds of traction, a more streamlined, precise, less clunky route editor, accurate working steam locomotives and a whole library of DLC to be updated to the wonderful new features which will be introduced in a timetable to be announced in a announcement to follow.

So how long is a piece of string, connected to a carrot on one end and a stick on the other.

At this time of the year I'm going to be more optimistic and say that is good to hear news from RSC regarding updates to TS2012 technology and future improvements. I know there were highs and low points, but I appreciate the constant development of the platform.

David.-

Do I detect a tad of cynicism here? So is it all about multiplayer which has no interest for me? Or has the old dispatcher been given the sack and a new more intelligent one with more than an iQ of 21 been employed?

hi ...
Be glad it's ever done something.
For other train simulators as it looks from far worse.
So it is at least interesting and there is always something new.

Think positive.

I'd like to see them implement technologies that can be found in some of the open source game engines like the UDK and Cryengine, maybe real time reflections is in the works? That would bring a whole other level of realism into the game :)

Could I just remind everyone that this thread is not a wish-list?

It's simply a forum for commenting upon the plans that RSC has announced for the future, as mentioned in the original post. if there's something specific you'd like, by all means contact RSC direct - they're much more likely to be aware of it that way as they do not frequent these forums in an official capacity anymore.

Whereas I'd like my Black Five to have Outside Stephenson Valve Gear... ala 44767... Oh well ;)

More le wild speculation eh? These threads are most interesting, but I always thought we weren't allowed to speculate on things here?

In any case, new technologies? Such as? How about realistic derailments, better signalling, the AI dispatcher to actually work proporly etc?

One can dream :)
