Some of them at least are in the UKTS diesels freepack, which has been updated to use the new model I believe

Are you sure about that? Isn't it just that they've been upgraded to have lighting and stuff, and the new cab?

It's certainly morally wrong, and almost certainly in contravention of UKTS file uploading rules, for someone to use anothers work in a redistributable package without prior permission from the originator.

I can't find the post now, but I did ask Jim about this fairly soon after the release of the TS2012 upgrade and he said it was well in hand. Of course I may have misunderstood and only the features you mentioned may have been implemented

Usually you would be right, but I believe it is a condition of the UKTS freeware packs that modification of the content is permissible (though I stand ready to be corrected on that one too!)

In the case of the freeware packs I couldn't find a specific reference to reskins in http://www.uktrainsim.com/FreewarePacks ... n%204).pdf, but it is stated:
4.1 Licensing Conditions for Donated Content

To ensure that content remains permanently available to users once donated
contributors must agree to the following conditions:

 Content may NOT be withdrawn from the pack after they have been
donated

 All content may be used, distributed, re-skinned and re-packaged with
any freeware route or scenario.
I read that as a case of "it's allowable to re-work the assets in the freeware packs if you wish, and include them with a route or scenario you've created", but not a 'go ahead' to chop out a reskins features and add them to a different base model, certainly not without seeking permission from the original author before making any modifications available. I suppose this is a grey area, one that wasn't envisaged at the conception of the free packs.

I sincerely hope that David's generosity in allowing the original EWS class 66 re-skins he did to be re-released is not seen as a free-for-all on his other work.
Legal and IP issues aside, it's also just good old fashioned 'manners' to ask first!!

Sorry People.

I was only asking if David would update his 47s sometime soon and it would be a great benefit to the UKTS Community. Also would be benefit for some developers like Armstong Powerhouse for example :D

Yes, if David did re-skin the newer base model that would be nice. To use skins for the old model on the new isn't just a straightforward matter though, the mapping of the models is different and inolves more than just 'copying and pasting' sections from one .dds to another.

Most of the class 47's are included in the UKTS Classic Diesel and Electric Freeware pack, installing that would save you a fair bit of work... http://www.uktrainsim.com/FreewarePacks ... lery_id=14 has screenshots of everything thats included.

It depends what reskins you would like to see, there are 2 lots of Class 47 repaints on the Vulcan Productions website, freely available from the talented paintbrushes of Will and NattyDredd, to name but 2 of our other top quality Railworks reskinners, both of these packs are TS2012 compliant.
