Re: paint terrian
Hi
Unfortunately (as yet) it is not easy to mix and match terrain textures between routes. Each route is linked to a specific set of textures which can be the same as another route or specially set up by the route builder for the route they are building.
There are ways of editing terrain .bin files to add or change textures to existing routes but there is quite a lot of work involved and knowledge required of file editing.
There are a number of threads on this subject in UKTS so use of the search engine should find some of these which will give you an idea of what is involved. This thread gives in-depth information on terrain textures -

The terrain is based on a mesh size that does not easily mould at detail level so unless your track is running along or across the mesh grid, it is very difficult to get rid of the dragons teeth. You can do quite a lot of smoothing with the smoothing tool set to a low brush size and speed or if you choose the terrain up/down tool and set the brush to 10 you can grab the terrain at the intersections of the grid and quite precisely move the grid up and down at that intersection point.
It is still very difficult to get a smooth embankment or cutting side but you can cover the spikes with foliage or try an embankment scenery item which simply sits over the spikes. I think there are some in the UKTS library.
