Re: List of RSC DLC bugs

I have on several occasions wondered whether the community should use one of the "proper" bug tracking tools, such as bugzilla, mantisdb or launchpad, to maintain its own lists...

The advantage would be that these tools are designed for the job, and so in theory should be better suited. It would be nice, though I admit fairly unlikely, if we can get buy-in from RSC for this.

Indeed this would be the way to do it if we possibly can. I believe there was a sticky 'known bugs' thread before (though I can't find it doing a search so maybe the whole thing was just a dream?), but it ended up rather unmanageable and it was not easy to find what the current known bugs really were versus wishlist items and bugs that actually were just a problem on a particular persons machine.

A proper bug tracking system would make everything a lot more organized - bugs could be closed if they are fixed or turn out not to be bugs and they can be categorized and searched nicely.

Great Progress.
Do please keep it on topic and refrain from using this thread to bash RSC or any other developer thanks.

Here's one I noticed last night on London to Brighton

Synopsis: Gatwick Airport is Glasgow International Airport
Description:
One stopping at Gatwick if you get out of the train and look around you see 'Glasgow International Airport' displayed on the airport buildings. OK it's not visible from the trackside, but they should have at least changed this if they are re-using an airport model.
Reproduction:
• Get out of the train at Gatwick and fly (no pun intended  ) to the airport buildings

Synopsis: Class 375/377 PTOSL high pantograph animation loops whenever P is pressed to raise the pantograph
Description: On the high pantograph variant of the PTOSL, whenever the P key is pressed, the pantograph animation loops over-and-over again, despite the low pantograph animation working fine, and the pantograph raising normally when the Raise Pantograph button is pressed inside the cab.
Reproduction: Insert a high pantograph PTOSL into the trainset (preferably under the wires), press P and you'll have the looping animation, instead of the pantograph raising as it should do, in any circumstance.

The only issue with using bugtrackers is that people have to learn how to use them :p if you found an ultra-simple one, perhaps: just a bug submission form & add comment system, no need for anything complicated.

I'm not sure if core bugs are outside the remit of DLC bugs or not - they're not specific to DLC, but then again they affect all ( or all relevant ) DLC.
My posts are my opinion, and should be read as such.

I think Jim's idea is a good one - the template format suggested above will help keep it factual.

I am not sure if this is a bug or not but I would like to ask where you get flickering signs from one direction it seems to fight with whats on the opposite side. Railworks has alot of signage it would just be nice to get it to stop doing that.

I have no experience of bug trackers other than they are often quite complex. I would want something simple as Kariban suggests.

Maybe the best way to start is with the FAQ thread and if things get too much to manage and the project still has momentum and interest then we could look at a more substantial alternative.

A sticky thread which has one list right at the top that someone can tweak / refine would be useful.

Surely that's a case of less than perfect content and not a bug?

Travelling at night on WCML, using electric or diesel, I have to have the F3
display on, or the display goes suddenly from pitch black to light all the time.

Here is one from me that has not previously been mentioned and occurred with the upgrade to TS!012.

Synopsis: Missing wooden vertical fence posts on Falmouth Branch.

Description: With the upgrade to TS2102, all the vertical wooden fence posts at the side of the track along the entire route have disappeared.

I know it is not a showstopper but it does look really strange!

Can confirm this. The same affects the wooden fence loft used on the Portsmouth Direct Line (I believe this is the same asset, albeit located in a different folder)

EDIT: Path of the asset is RSC/GuildfordDistrict/Scenery/FencesWalls/fence_wood_03[.xml, .bin etc.]
Issue: The intermediate geometry shape does not show

Hi all,

It might be as well to put a hold on this list of Bugs until after the update, due on Tuesday has been installed, IMHO.

Kind regards
