That's all well and good, except for the Diamond Jubilee I don't think the Royal Train will be hauled by anything other than a 67 (although surely a Jubilee would be appropriate?)

One (possible) intresting point about the Royal train is thatt the drivers are specially chosen based on their skill. One such ability required by the drivers is to make a station stop within six inches of a designated position.
Intrestingly, the royal train has been hauled by Duchess of Sutherland, King Edward I and Tornado.

Yes. You could always tell the ones which had been used on Royal trains as they have a small circular blanking plate fixed to the front of their noses. This was to cover the hole where a communication cable was routed.

She does use it although it's been a good ten years since she last did IIRC. Recently she's preferred the more humble Class 165:

Despite repeatedly shouting "Do you know who one is" the fare dodger was removed from the train by staff at the next station.

From the RW website;
...Royal Claret Mk1 and Mk2 coaches...
Isn't the Royal Train made up of a few Mk2 generator coaches and the rest are Mk3s of varying flavours?

There are mark 3s in the photos that have been posted so far, so is either a typo or a mark 1 is used as a luggage van perhaps? (I doubt there's a guard/conductor!

)

The current Royal Train is made up of Mk3s and Mk2s, yes. But these kind of errors aren't exactly uncommon in RS.com's announcements, unfortunately.
