Watch this video. You can clearly hear the engine noise from the cab. The vestibule cab door may be open but I think it shows quite well what can actually be heard in the cab environment.

EDIT: Having watched the JT video though, it does seem a little loud, the rest of the sounds though are excellent!

Sounds very good indeed! Volume is something I harp on about a lot though as some of you may know and I'm sure the cab would be a lot quieter than outside but it depends how far you want to go with the realism. Videos aren't really a good gauge of how loud something is as the recording equipment will usually just compensate it's sensitivity levels so everything sounds a similar volume. At least this way no-one will complain about any of the sounds being too quiet.

Hmm probably. I have a very similar video of the start up sequence (I must put it up to youtube one day), with no sound at all save the beeping and bells and whistles. Could be that the door was closed, I don't remember rightly (two years ago now).

I think there is, I'm not too sure. I would imagine that the cab has the same sound proofing as the passenger compartment, maybe even quieter as he sits further from the engine, and of course, doesn't have traffic in the cab. It's just him and the computers....

Having watched the video, at 3:32 the camera moves around to show the guys in the cab, and one can clearly see the second-man's cab door is open. So you will hear the engines going. Then, as they move off, you get an idea of how quiet the cab becomes once the doors are closed. You can still hear the engines rev up, it's not dead silent.

I've watch and studied the cab ride video of Lickey Voyager, and it's quiet, exactly the same sounds when the train is moving. Pulling off, you hear the engines rev up, but as soon as you above say 30mph, then it becomes hard to hear the engines. So the video is correct, you just have to listen very carefully, and see what all the camera sees....

Well, you wouldn't want a Windows Vista operating system running the TMS, unless you had sadistic tendencies... :evilbat:

Ill be getting this, and encouraged to take a very hard look at anything else they bring out.

Other devs take note
Yes RSC should take note

Ken

Agreed, and devs will hopefully take note for improving their models to this standard as well as their customer services.

Pre-ordered. I'll bet these this model will fly off the JT shop shelves. Hopefully the Class 60 is next up for the same treatment, that would surely fly off the shelves too.

Nice list of features look forward to it. Keep on trucking.... no sorry simming.

;)
I don't believe that the fully "dark and cold" driver's cab will be implemented within RW3 scope.
This question has been asked the MTS2 developers and they replied that railway companies are strongly against this feature. Strangely, this is fully implemented in FSX.

Hmm odd that they are if that is true though.

In all flight sims it has a feature to do that. Not just the MS Flight Simulator line. Others include Xplane, B17 Mighty Eigth (First one i played with cold/ dark as standard), Digital Combat Simulations, Black Shark 1/2, A10 Warthog (Finially can start fine manually but still use phone app check list) and the recently released P51D Mustang.

After watching the Trailer Vid is making me want it more and also the Start up vid shown a few posts back is very intresting.

Chris
Rising Storm -Name is in the credits :D - To Do scenario, where you go along at 50mph in a Pendo? Who would play it?
Anyone want to help in Play Testing future Rising Storm/ Ro2 Maps? If so please PM me.

I think those guys in the cab of the video is either the top bosses or they were on some sort of training....

Normally, if there is a camera crew of two, there is also a traction supervisor accompanying plus the driver.
Indeed, it's rather crowdy inside.

I'm still waiting for realistic end changing to be implemented in a rail simulator. Ctrl+plus doesn't quite do it for me. Trouble is my house isn't long enough :)

An interesting and educational film.
