As far as I remember that tick-box has no relevance or affect other than for debugging at RSCs request?TheTazman wrote:Are you guys clicking the Multi Core tick box when loading or disregaring it?

That was the case, but I'm almost sure RSC have recommended ticking the box now. Didn't a recent update have some sort of multicore tweak in it?Traveller54 wrote:As far as I remember that tick-box has no relevance or affect other than for debugging at RSCs request?TheTazman wrote:Are you guys clicking the Multi Core tick box when loading or disregaring it?

Is it the same with auto-firing? There's a scenario I've wanted to do for ages involving a 40 piloting an Ivatt 4 (make that Kev's Stanier mogul) but always had the same issue with water.Kariban wrote:To answer my own question, you still can't feed water to a steam engine with another engine in the consist, even though F5 is saying it's working properly.

Re: Update? 11.7b
Someone posted here recently that a member of RSC's support team didn't even know what the box did himself and therefore couldn't advise whether to tick it or not. That was a month or so ago, if I remember correctly.briyeo1950 wrote:That was the case, but I'm almost sure RSC have recommended ticking the box now. No idea, I've just been trying the 8F scenario that arrives with Woodhead every time & giving up after.bdy26 wrote: Is it the same with auto-firing? Railworks makes use of multiple cores by default, there's no need to tick the multi-core box unless RSC Support specifically ask you to. It's a debugging tool.briyeo1950 wrote:That was the case, but I'm almost sure RSC have recommended ticking the box now. Re: Update? 11.7b
'Thank you for contacting the Railsimulator.com customer support team. It is advisable to tick multi core in order to take full advantage of your processing power, your graphics set up is a matter of individual preference.'
That's the reply I got from Railsim Support a few weeks ago to clarify whether using the multi core option, and also Crossfire ie two graphics cards in tandem, made a difference. Not really any the wiser with that response. On my set up, it appears to have a positive impact on some routes, but not on others, and in some case appears to make things worse. It would be helpful if Railsim actually specified whether multicore is supported in sim, as other people say they have heard different. So, you pays your money.......
I posted the above in another thread, though how it helps amongst all the contradictory advice is debatable. I also wanted to post re this recent update. It appears they have done something to the Raildriver dll. Now when I try to start Ts2012 the GUI for Raildriver appears on my desktop and I can't get into the game. I presume I'll have to recalibrate it, and also calibrate it for the fixes for the Cl 86, DMUs and Cl 76. And it was working so well up to now. Anyone else in the same position?

Re: Update? 11.7b
I see that the 56xx has not had the update to 2012 they have been sitting on...

Tried the same scenario without & with the multicore box, didn't make any difference to FPS usage or core usage... which is different to when RW3 appeared, at least.

Sorry, I was just thinking about the hilarity of supposing that RSC Support would actually communicate in such a way that one might be asked to tick or untick that box....
