Not quite sure why we have a Swiss part when there are No Swiss Locos to Work the services.
The OBB 1116 would not be seen in St Margerethen only Buchs.

I think building the Rheitalbahn but not including Switzerland would be a bit pointless. After all the route was built to connect all three countries within the Rheintal.

I grew up along the branch line to Switzerland and you can see the odd 1x16 on that route crossing over to Switzerland. Mostly pulling freight trains out of Wolfurt.

There is a Swiss loco in the works (Re 4/4 - Re 460) but nobody knows when it will be released and it has been delayed many times now.

There are also other trains in development that can be seen on this route such as the Talent.

In any case I think it will be fun to drive a stopping passenger service crossing through three different countries within the space of 40min.

Chicken and egg. The general trend is that people may be more liable to create something if they have somewhere to run it.

Although there are Swiss locomotives available, granted I don't know much about them or how prototypical they are for this route, but that isn't the point.

I know normally Austrian and German locos can't operate into Switzerland because of something with the design of their pantographs (too wide for the Swiss loading gauge, or something), but this may have been rectified in recent time, I had completely forgotten about the Railjets mentioned above. The image you linked to, though, Darpor, is said in the caption to be taken in Liechtenstein, so it may be that this particular train changed locomotives at the Liechtenstein-Switzerland border.

Anyway, the whole point I was trying to make was that there are Swiss locomotives available, or at least locomotives that visit Switzerland. (I think )

There is even a complete Swiss add-on, the Gotthard route.

German ICE 1's operate in Switzerland. You will see German loco's at the beginning of the vid and a Taurus. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LfVXLqXy ... ubs_digest

Don't forget that the Taurus was designed to work almost anywhere in Europe.

In order to do so it has to carry an enormous amount of extra technology. Since this would be overkill for some operators Siemens designed three different versions. The 1016 is mostly for Austria and Germany. The 1116 can be seen almost anywhere but can't operate in some very unique environments (this is also the loco that pulls the railjet high speed trains across many European countries). Finally there is the 1216 which has 4 pantographs and can be used pretty much anywhere.

The 1116 and 1216 are common visitors to Switzerland. The railjets are driving every day all the way to Zurich without any problems.

It may not be a Swiss loco but it can certainly be found in Switzerland.

Also, when the route from Feldkirch to Switzerland is closed, all traffic is diverted via St. Margrethen. This is when that little branch line becomes very interesting as all of a sudden in addition to the stopping passenger trains ICs, ECs to and from Switzerland and even France make their way along the tiny single track route.
Plenty of options for scenarios on the Three Country Corner route.
Also a wide range of trains can be seen there. From German, Swiss, Hungarian to Austrian or French in addition to ICEs and railjets.

One of the reasons for picking that route was that it lies in the heart of Europe and that a large variety of trains can be seen there.

Are you sure about this? I clearly remember standing beside a BR103 in one of the big Swiss termini in 1983 - I think it was in Geneva
